They don't make games like this anymore. Sometimes I go back to Dark Alliance just to remember the magic that surrounded every gaming experience in the 2000s. Still plays great, super fun stuff for your steam deck.
Game wouldn't run on my PC because of known incompatibility with AMD drivers. I then put in my refund and gifted the game to a friend of mine to co-op on remote play. Apparently this caused my play time to increase even though I was only streaming it and the refund was declined.
This is the definitive experience for this previously console-exclusive title... only if the price weren't so high! Ignoring the wacky price, this is well worth playing. Somewhat short for an RPG, difficult for casual action RPG enjoyers, but runs well on Steam Deck. Achievements would have at least made the high price seem more worth it, but overall a solid recommendation if you don't mind paying this much.

J'y ai joué à sa sortie sur ps2, c'était sympa, bien que court et limité. Je trouve que le prix est bien trop élevé, il y a des jeux plus récent et meilleur pour le même prix voir moins. Il vaut mieux attendre une bonne réduction.
Although I have only 5.3 hours on record, I used to play these game a lot as a kid on PS2. There is still heavy nostalgia every time I start the game and enter the elf song tavern. I just remember playing through the game in coop with my friend during sleep overs. We always rented it and for some reason he could never save the progress so each time it was like we were playing a roguelike. I can still hear the trader saying, "swords, axes, bows. We have everything you need right here!" It's an absolute classic of the ARPG genre and while I wouldn't say it is worth the price they are asking it is a good buy on sale. It is a good steam deck game.
Just the same as I remember it as a kid but with the higher resolution graphics. Wait for it to go on sale though.
An amazing game from the PS2 era, with some replayability and a real challenge for hardcore games in the extreme difficulty (must do certain things to unlock it, no spoilers other than it exists) However, I believe the pricing went wrong, it used to be about 15 usd or so in full price and 7-8 bucks on discount, unsure why would they do this (because the port works but is not amazing, no graphics options, etc...) Lazy port but still I love that it is available in Steam ( I believe there is no cloud save, so watch out where you keep your files)
PS2 memory: I've personally had a friend who was a total COD head, and this is what made him try D&D and enjoy it for the first time. 10/10 Gateway game, no pun intended.
I love the game but I wouldn't get it at the $40 price. The only reason I did was because this game taught me how to read when i was growing up so I'm a bit partial. This was released on steam along with the second dark alliance game during covid. great for nostalgia but it doesn't really compare well to modern games.
Miserable junk with bad camera, bad controls, bad balance and very mid-ish gameplay. Not worth its price, buy it ONLY if you played it on PS2.
