This is my first time playing a Backyard game and overall? it's honestly quite fun, I'm not one for much sports games. But something arcadie like this is nice to experience. Disappointed that online multiplayer isn't a thing yet but I rather have a good strong server connection then have to face something I would rather quit not even half way into it. Excited to see where the future of the game goes

I want to like this game. But I can't. The gameplay has MAJOR issues. The overarching issue basically boils down to: nothing you do or don't do matters and everything unique in the game (characters, stats, power-ups) make no impact on the game. It definitely feels like this game was not play tested sufficiently. Specific issues: CPU opponents get hits regardless of your pitch quality, location, or type. All of them make no impact on the result. Hits to the outfield turn into outs because of how fast the hit balls reach defenders, so you better avoid hitting line drives to right field. Fielding mechanics are screwy - your players don't naturally cover bases, when they do cover bases half the time they step off it and forget they are in the play, it isn't possible to get runners out in a pickle, stealing bases has a animation glitch that favors CPUs, etc. When you smash a line drive, it goes to one of about 10 possible locations, 6 of which are directly at a fielder. It seems they only coded in a relatively small subset of options of where the ball can be hit to. I just went two innings in a row of lining out 3 times in a row to deep center field. This game has potential, but as of right now the gameplay is a disaster.
Can be a chill game, can be infuriating, but above all its an experience. If you're a returning player or a new one it's a perfect game to sit down and play for hours and hours. I would highly recommend.
As someone who's not that familiar with Baseball, I think this is still a great game to know the basics and get a hang of how baseball works compared to just watching or playing professional video game baseball. I haven't had the chance to play the old version of the game, but from pics and vids of it, how they did the graphics on this game compared to the old ones, are top-notch, and the characters are still accurate and cute!
Gives me crazy nostalgia when I played MLB on PS1 and early PC version with my brother. This is really fun. Hoping for the Online version so I could sh*t on my brother again. Tis good fun
I was a fan of the original and have been waiting on the reboot. It holds true to the original with improvements. They seem to be committed to patching and fixing early bugs. Overall would buy again at this price and think its worth it.
