I almost passed on this game due to all the talks in negative reviews about bugs or difficulty fielding. And I'll admit that fielding felt weird with keyboard and mouse. But I plugged in my 360 controller and now the game is smooth as butter. Fielding feels right. The kids are doing what I'm asking them to do. To be fair, I think my problem with keyboard and mouse was the INABILITY to bind into an ESDF friendly format because some of those keys are hard coded and designed with WASD in mind.

Tldr: I think this game has a high ceiling for success. In its current state it lacks polish and may leave you frustrated. This game has tickled all of the nostalgia points and has brought back names from my childhood. The gameplay allows players to show off some skill expression compared to the version I grew up playing on the gameboy advanced. I think the difficulty is deserved and makes the game actually more enjoyable vs casually stomping the CPU on the highest difficulty. This game in the current state has a lot of bugs making the gameplay frustrating. For example balls can stuck in the corner of tin can alley where runners are allowed to run for an inside the park homerun. In local multiplayer, a player sometimes may not go to the "edit strategy" window to swap out their pitcher when they run out of energy. Also in the "edit strategy" window, you can only see the stats of the currently selected player and not the player you want to swap with. One of the non-gameplay bugs I've also noticed is that the batting stats for some players are just wrong. It would often assign player A's at-bat and give it to player B. Then at the end of the game player B would have 6 at-bats while a player A only has 3.

Huge fan of the series, and was extremely excited to play a new entry after all these years! Unfortunately, the game lacks polish in ways that are glaring, so much so that I requested a refund and would not recommend others buy it unless significant work is done to clean this game up. My two biggest issues were with the commentary and with the controls. Game Commentators Commentary brings back the two familiar voices from the OG games, but it feels lower quality -- commentators talk over each other, each "non-canon" player are all referred to as "the newcomer", unrelated and inapplicable commentary lines are spoken seemingly randomly. It got so annoying and grating that after just thirty minutes of having commentary on, I opted to mute them in game settings just to maintain my sanity. Controls As someone who was a big fan of the original games, I loved being able to control the game with just my mouse as a point-and-click sports game. However, this control scheme was horrible. UI elements would pop in and out. Trying to throw to the correct player when fielding was a nightmare (I constantly would throw to the wrong player despite clicking very directly on the person I wanted to throw to). Sending runners back was impossible unless you use keyboard, so players got picked off often. Credit where credit is due - pitching and batting both felt great. I've also heard that the controller controls were a lot better than keyboard and mouse. I didn't choose to play it that way though, because I wanted the point-and-click experience. Overall, I'm really disappointed that I didn't love this game. I wanted to love it so badly. I will be going back to play the originals to get my fix, and I hope one day I can revisit this game if they ever clean up the flaws.

first of all, This BYB is the most impressive and improved mechanic in dev's franchise. BUT, as any other person has commented its critism about this game.. YES, the higher diff = (much more easier your opp can) hit your pitch, outrun you in each bases, more easier for em to homerun you, ect. the in-game system implementation ARE RIDICULOUS! if you wanna enjoy the feeling of playing baseball genre, keep playing on lower-middle diff. BUT, for me 10/10

Played the original version on RealArcade back in the day, this remake is a solid visual upgrade that looks, sounds, and feels like the original. It's easy to pick up and get playing, all the fun and diverse characters are back with a few new ones (plus the character creator is a nice addition). The collectible baseball cards are a nice touch, with some really nice artwork. Only gripe is that specials are harder to get for pitching than it is for batting. Feels like it would be better if you could gradually increase the special meter through getting strikes than only getting a complete meter through strikeouts. The audio playback also needs ironing out, the commentators keep talking over themselves and get cut off by the scoreboard. Looking forward to online multiplayer!
