BACK OF SPACE

I used to think the game is cool (and visually it does), but the dev behind this game "River" is an extremely hateful person. They spam bigoted, anti-trans and anti-gay stuff in their discord announcements and will insult people for seemingly no reason. While this game is good, I think the Dev should consider selling the IP before they put propaganda in their game. Update: This guy still sucks lol

game is good with that being said As you can see on the rest of the reviews, the developer constantly complains about "woke" agenda, offends trans people with no reason at all and on his discord on the pronouns page he says "my pronouns are available as a pdf file" Terrible human being, thank god i got it for free. Edit: He now only gets people in the game to work with him if the person DOES NOT have pronouns in bio, and still, it's just a "silly joke" on your bio. Yeah sure.

AI generated content, the developer could've easily just bought stock videos. The developer himself has unfortunately lost himself and became a hateful individual, which wouldn't be a problem if it weren't attached to the game. The game in it's current state has so many soft locks and bugs that it's not worth the $10 price tag. Alongside that, the developer constantly neglects this game to work on other projects, then neglects those projects to work on other projects, and so on and so forth. While the game shows promise, it seems to only show promise. EDIT: Now the lead dev is having schizo rants on his discord about the left, for whatever reason. Just make the damn game bro.

Legit it's going backwards It's a cool game but Dev cannot get their life together and keeps promising and not delivering. Enjoy it but don't hold any expectations for an actual finished project.

I really cant add much that hasn't already been said about this game, but it's just taking too long to deliver too little. Also, being racist and transphobic doesn't help.

Game had potential but dev just gave up on it. Also he is genuinely just not a good person, he is more focused on politics and hatred rather than updating this game. If you want to see how much of a loser the dev is just read the other reviews and join the discord (I don't recommend going anywhere near that server).

Over 4 years for a game about colored text and AI anime girls.

BACK OF SPACE aesthetically is interesting, and has some interesting plot devices, but unfortunately falls flat in terms of game-play and content. The game-play is just a glamorized Stroop color/word test, which isn't inherently bad, but certainly isn't worth $10 USD. What made it worth the buy in the first place (the music) is also apparently being changed, with not much explanation. The story, which initially I thought was ironic in some senses, or satirizing an incel-ish lifestyle, is apparently unironic, with the developer posting often about how the main character of BACK OF SPACE is actually a self-insert. This also results in the developer becoming really defensive whenever someone criticizes BACK OF SPACE, because it seems he takes any kind of backlash personally instead of adding more levels, or any sort of intrigue to the game. Maybe the full release will be worth $10, but I think it would have to seriously be overhauled in order to feel worth $10. In concept, BACK OF SPACE is an interesting play, but in execution it feels like an awkward tech-demo diary written by someone with some kind of superiority complex, or deep insecurity. Hoping the dev either takes time away from BACK OF SPACE to do some introspective work, overhauls the game in order to add gameplay beyond Stroop testing, or gets xaev back on the game and continues making playable music videos. tl;dr : largely unoriginal gameplay that's cluttered with bizarrely personal moments that make it an overall uncomfortable play with more drama than it's worth.

Just play Old TV by the same developer if you find this gameplay interesting. theirs nothing much different between that game and this other than A.I generated backgrounds and a story straight out of an incel's fantasy. definitely not worth the money in its current state.

the game is stale. River is working on multiple projects at the same time and neglecting this game heavily. there hasn't been an update in almost a year now
