It's a cheap and fun little metroidvania. Would be cool if achievements were more doable and content based though.
B.I.O.T.A. is an 8-bit 2D Action Platformer with metroidvania elements about a squad called GEMINI II and their trip to Front Horizon where they need to find the source of corruption. The game offers an interconnected world with different biomes each with their secrets, upgrades and platforming sections to overcome. There are shops in the game where you can buy ammo upgrades, Max HP increase and many more. There are over 40 different color palettes to choose from and can switch anytime from the pause screen. Each adding their unique and distinctive colors and you pick whatever goes your way and what makes the game more fun to you. The controls and character movement were pretty tight along with 8 different characters (Both Unlockable & Purchasable) to choose from each with their own distinctive weapon and sub weapons. The OST and music were a bit nostalgic to the old 8-bit era and childhood days, really fun to listen to while pushing your way through the game. The boss fights were fun to tackle with some requiring certain strategies to beat and some with direct head to head battles. It will put your reaction timings and dodging skills to the test. It's really recommended especially if you're intro retro 8-bit and pixel art indie games or 2D action platformers in general. Overall Rating 10/10

Fun game that only took about 6 hours to beat, and that was with me backtracking a few times a la metroidvania to buy some extra stuff. I paid less than 5 bucks for this and to me it was well worth it, though some people might find a dollar an hour to be less than valuable (though I come from a time when we used to spend a quarter to play SF2 for just a couple minutes, so this works for me). I do wish that there was more use for the "money" as your purse is often full with no use. There are plenty of characters to choose from, and lots of palettes to fit everyone's style. But the best aspect of this game is the MUSIC -- it is phenomenal! I found myself playing the game more than I normally would just to listen to the music. I hope a part 2 is in the pipeline, whether in this same style or more modern, as the story is great and there is plenty to expand upon. Well done devs!
Raccomanded!
Solid gameplay & stylish aesthetics.
