First off don't go in expecting Madden or anything close to it. I would say its's about 40% there and that makes me extremely hopeful for this developer. there are a few things that definitely need work on. like when you create a team (which I loved) the colors on the helmet logo doesn't translate so you get the same colors you picked but they are inverted or switched on the logo which was frustrating. The way you choose your team colors need a complete revamp. you have arrows on each RGB color then you must click the arrows to achieve the color you want. I would suggest a radial color wheel so you can easily choose the exact color you want. The gameplay is really good and I must say it sucked me in as I was not intending to play as long as I did. Play calling and motion is what you would expect, but my biggest gripe is there are no ambient stadium noise or booming sounds or music, and the worst part of the game that finally took me out of mood for playing was the announcer voice is bad, I mean... really bad. This game could definitely us a 2nd color commentator. This was my first time purchasing this series but I've been following it since the beginning and glad I finally got in at this entry point. My advice to the developer "Do not follow Madden's mistakes" you have a prime opportunity here, don't mess it up.

The franchise has come a long way but it still has a long way to go; a real long way to go. Changing my review from positive to negative as I have reached my frustration level with this game on so many levels.
love it. Best Axis game yet, I would love to see for future version a way to customize league formats including naming the leagues and divisions. Other than that it is awesome!!!
Positive review because this is the best Madden challenger I've played since 2K made football games. That being said, I'm very much on the fence, and I've already uninstalled the game after about 6 hours of playtime. It's buggy in the same ways as madden, but worse. The players move too slowly. Tackling follows very simple animations that are not satisfying and do not feel impactful. Passing is rudimentary and you don't have a lot of control over how and where you throw. Their version of franchise mode is pretty ok, and if you like to coach and just let the bots run the actual plays, it's slightly better, but you can just tell most of what you see is superficial. It's like a cardboard cutout of Danny DeVito: it looks like it could be 3d if you look at it head-on and from far enough back, but the moment you get close enough, or step to the side, you can tell it's just a 2d piece of cardboard with an image printed on top. To be fair, that's the case with every game, but the good ones are better at dressing up the illusion. So, I recommend this game if you're desperate for a football game that's not Madden, but not if you already find Madden's shortcomings frustrating. This just makes you want to buy Madden '27. I mean no disrespect to the devs though. I really respect what they've built as a small studio, and I think it's pretty much impossible to build a "madden killer" without AAA studio budget to get the engine and the details to a level of polish that it feels like the game of football.
The game settings don't stick. Controller support is horrible. The game play is janky. Who ever is saying positive things about this game must work for the company, or are related to those who do.
just improve upon each year the gameplay much better more deeper franchise ai weekly news mock draft what a franchise mode should be simple and enjoyable. Great custom game setting and editor from player to stadium and ofc making your own playbook this the best Axis football I've played.
I have purchased several of their games. I had been trying to support a dev that genuinely wanted to bring a game to the table that meant I didn't have to hop on the Madden train. AF27 is a back step, I enjoyed 24, and 26. They took away customized options of color templates. Creating teams is a slog in itself because each new version I had to recreate my teams. But now I have to go through sliders ticking a color of R B G until it fits the color. Before we were able to choose templates. If we have to spend hours on a color grind before I can get to the football, I'm good. Refunded.
