The game is well made, but the competition is way too high in 2026 for it to be considered some timeless hit. It's a solid metroidvania game with well thought out mechanics, intriguing level design and interesting graphics style but that's all what it is, nothing more.

Axiom Verge is a pure love letter to the classics. If you grew up exploring in Super Metroid, this game will instantly bring back all those great memories. It perfectly captures that feeling of being completely alone and discovering secrets in a strange, hostile alien world. The pixel art style is absolutely incredible. It has a dark, creepy sci-fi vibe that makes the whole planet feel alive and mysterious. But what really surprised me is how fantastic the story is. The plot is incredibly well-written, packed with great twists and intriguing mysteries that keep you hooked from start to finish. Like any great Metroidvania, the game is wonderfully complex. The map is huge and filled with hidden paths that reward you for checking every corner. Instead of just giving you the usual upgrades, you get a crazy variety of weapons and a really fun tool that lets you "glitch" the environment and the enemies to solve puzzles and move forward. It’s a smart, challenging maze that is an absolute joy to get lost in. If you are a fan of classic exploration games and a good sci-fi story, you absolutely need to play this.

Not a biggest fan of visual style but hey i understand the hype of metroidvania. Quite challenging for beginners but these days kids had to undertsand that real retro is!! Highly recomend for genre lovers!
