If you're looking for a new Rust or 7 Days to Die, this is not it. Axe:Survival is a low effort attempt to make a barely passable game. Don't buy this unless you are an achievement hunter or the game gets massively upgraded from the time this review was posted.
Pros
+ Open World + Basic crafting & base building + Multiple weapon types (guns) are findable in the map + Respawn to map starting point on death, only lose your items, but continue on same Day
Cons
- No tutorial. Prepare for trial and error and maybe a few deaths - No clock. When does the Day start and end? How long is a day? I still don't know - No objectives. Survive to day 30 and get on your ship. That's it. - No map marker. Rotating minimap is all you have - compare shapes and colors to main map to figure it out - Monotonous combat - walk backwards clicking attack to kill everything effortlessly - No variety in enemy types - they look different, but all act the same - Only one source of water? The Lake - so expect to camp there almost entirely - Stock assets, low poly, bland textures. Comes off as minimal effort everywhere. - You're from space but you look and act like a caveman? Plot is non-existent Suffice to say this game will only be played by achievement hunters. Just get to Day 30, and you've unlocked 100%. No need to do anything else. Spoiler: Getting on the ship treats you to a cutscene of it taking off. No ending, no credits. Only back to main menu. Looks like the developer has a new game out under a marginally different studio name, aiming to resemble ARK. Buyer beware. I'll be happy to revise my review if the game gets a major overhaul. Until then: avoid.
Mouse look doesn't work. Can't interact with the, mostly empty, pointless, environment. A waste of everyone's time, hilariously overpriced. Early Access garbage. https://youtu.be/1YAXGxWxGFg
I hate to say this. This early access game was not ready for release. The screen size keeps changing as I access things. All I can do is run forward or sidways. The alt key that is supposed to let you have freelook does not work. The guide needs work, as when the guide to me to access craft. I would not go off my screen after I did. As with all early access games, I expect some issues, but to be unplayable is not aceptable. The developer needs to get the game working alot better. I would suggest not buying this game at this time. Give the developer some time to get the game more playable. I was going to do a first look for my YouTube channel https://goo.gl/r2uYrg but was unable to do so based on the issues stated above. Jadiwan
Although the graphics are amazing (like 2014 Crysis amazing!), I cannot find myself returning to this game after one gameplay session. I'd recommend Age of Survival instead.
Absolute garbage.
There is literally nothing positive you can say about this absolute filth of an asset flip. I've seen lazy asset flips, this absolute cancer bites the cake... There is no bigger asset flip than this ♥♥♥♥. It baffles my mind that there is such a borderline spastic studio out there, that dares to release such cancer. Dcell game studio, please. Pull the plug from your studio and never release a game again. Hiding behind "Early Access" is the biggest joke there is, when your filth is nothing more than a worthless cash grabbing asset flip. This is not even worth it for an achievementhunter... Not even free it's worth playing this "game"
Alright so I played through the whole game, all 30 days. I streamed most of it as a part of my Steam Russian Roulette series. Ho boy, this game is rough. -Placing a large number of new objects in the game cause the whole thing to lag -Combat is super easy, and the M24 basically makes combat passable -Lake is OP, no reason to not camp there -Overly simple crafting system -Slots for armor but no armor to be found anywhere -Finding the dominate strategy of being at the lake and hunting the deer that runs near the lake took me like 30 minutes to figure out -Everything looks rough, the animations, the textures, the character models All that said, there is a decent concept here, but the developer is gonna need to put in a *lot* of work to bring it up to snuff. More balancing, fixing animations, giving players more reason to explore the map. All in all, give it a pass. I played it so you don't have to.
Yet another stand-type masterpiece that predates the stand-type of them all (Death Stranding of course) Graphics: 7/10 decent graphics Story: 6/10 not very developed Stability: 10/10 runs very well Gameplay: 7/10 can entertain for hours Music: 6/10 could be better Overall: 7.8/10 better than Airport Simulator 2014
