genuinely the most fun fighting game out rn
The Game Is Fun
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The gameplay is outstanding.
No difficulty settings... Game you crazy.
I wish Steam had a mixed option for reviews because this is genuinely one of the best fighting games released this year even in it's incomplete state, but parts of what make it so good are also why I'm dropping the game (though I may go back for the DLC). I used to play fighting games a lot as a teen, fell off for a few years and then came back for specifically this game and Marvel tokon. I was never good at fighting games before but now I struggle to block an obvious overhead or even complete one combo on the character I've been playing since the pre-order beta (Firelord Azula). Compare that to the Zaheer I just fought who put me into a mixup at the end of every combo like we were playing Skullgirls and perfected me twice (someone who probably isn't even the best Zaheer playing the game currently) and I just can't find the fun or even learn anything other than when Zaheer will go for his 6 way mix that can only be stopped by guessing right and then hoping you can punish him. I COULD probably get relatively decent at the game if I put more time into it, but time is something I don't have often. I have other hobbies besides fighting games (including digital art which is what I REALLY want to be good at) and Avatar demands so much time to get good at. Compare that to Tokon which has more universal mechanics, simpler controls, and a common combo structure while still having unique mechanics and saucy, character specific combos that you can learn but don't NEED to learn to fight other average player. There's nothing wrong with Avatar and I don't regret buying the deluxe edition because the devs deserve all the support they can get. But the fact of the matter is I'm just not able to get good enough at the game to enjoy fighting other players and the single player content is fairly barebones (but for the price point it's not the worst). I'm definitely going to be spending my limited time on Tokon more BUT if you want to invest your game time into Avatar and truly learn everything about this game, you won't be disappointed.
Мыл
This game has some sauce and a lot of potential, unfortunately it feels like it's missing polish and got pushed out too soon. I'd like to try the game some more once the devs get more time with it adding some basic functions like key rebinds and focus muting among some other things.
