You've inherited a small house. The documents say that you will only have a right to own it once you manage to live there for at least few days. But you must not go outside at night and shouldn't open the cellar door. Is there a chance to meet the conditions? Only time will show!

Autumn Dream by GDNomaD is a small-scale first-person horror title that builds itself around a familiar but potentially effective premise: isolation in a remote house governed by a set of ominous rules. You arrive as the inheritor of a secluded property, quickly warned not to venture outside at night and to avoid certain parts of the house, particularly the cellar. It’s the kind of setup that naturally invites curiosity and unease, and for a brief moment, the game manages to tap into that tension. The quiet autumn setting, with its muted tones and stillness, creates an atmosphere that suggests something unsettling lurking just beneath the surface. It’s a promising introduction that hints at a more psychologically driven experience. However, as the game progresses, it becomes clear that much of that potential is left underdeveloped. The structure leans heavily toward a linear, guided experience, where the player moves from one objective to the next with very little room for interpretation or exploration. Rather than encouraging you to piece together clues or make meaningful decisions, the game often directs you explicitly, reducing the sense of discovery that is so important in horror. This approach diminishes the tension that the premise initially establishes, turning what could have been a slow-burn experience into something more mechanical and predictable. Gameplay is minimal, consisting primarily of walking through environments, interacting with objects, and completing simple tasks that rarely evolve beyond their initial form. Puzzles, if they can be called that, are straightforward to the point of feeling inconsequential, offering little challenge or satisfaction. The lack of mechanical depth makes it difficult for the game to sustain engagement, as there is very little variation in what you are actually doing from one moment to the next. Instead of building complexity or introducing new systems, the experience remains static, relying almost entirely on its atmosphere to carry it. The narrative attempts to add layers through scattered notes and environmental storytelling, but it struggles to maintain coherence. Dialogue and written text often feel awkward or poorly translated, which makes it difficult to fully grasp the intended story or connect with the events unfolding around you. There are glimpses of more interesting ideas—particularly in later segments that introduce darker and more surreal elements—but these moments are too brief and underexplored to leave a strong impression. The story ends up feeling fragmented, as if it is hinting at something deeper without ever fully committing to it. Visually, the game presents a mixed picture. The outdoor environments, especially in the early stages, capture a certain seasonal charm with their autumnal palette, creating a calm but slightly eerie backdrop. Unfortunately, this initial impression is undermined by inconsistent asset quality and a lack of cohesion in the overall design. Indoor environments often feel sparse or artificially constructed, and the reuse of assets becomes noticeable over time. The result is a world that never fully convinces as a believable or immersive space, which is particularly detrimental in a horror setting where atmosphere is key. Audio design, which should be one of the strongest tools in a horror game, is another weak point. Sound effects are often repetitive and poorly balanced, sometimes drawing attention to themselves in a way that breaks immersion rather than enhancing it. Moments that are clearly intended to be tense or frightening rely on abrupt cues rather than carefully built suspense, which reduces their effectiveness. Instead of creating a lingering sense of dread, the audio often feels disconnected from the rest of the experience. Technical issues further compound these problems. The game shows signs of instability, with occasional bugs and rough transitions that disrupt the flow of play. Combined with its very short runtime—often less than an hour for a full playthrough—it gives the impression of a project that was not fully refined or expanded upon. While short horror experiences can be effective when tightly designed, here the brevity feels more like a limitation than a deliberate choice. There are, however, small glimpses of potential scattered throughout the experience. Certain sequences, particularly those that shift away from the initial setting and introduce more surreal or unsettling imagery, suggest a more ambitious vision that never quite comes together. These moments hint at what the game could have achieved with stronger execution and a more focused design, but they are too fleeting to elevate the overall experience. In the end, Autumn Dream is a game that starts with an intriguing premise but struggles to develop it into something compelling. Its reliance on linear progression, minimal gameplay, and inconsistent presentation prevents it from delivering the kind of immersive or memorable horror experience it seems to aim for. While it may hold some curiosity value for players interested in exploring lesser-known indie horror titles, it ultimately feels more like an unfinished concept than a fully realized game. Rating: 4/10

1.5/5 Extremely boring indie-horror that could only be 'scary' when played by screamy youtubers. 1.5 for nostalgia for that youtube era and for the fact that the game has cards.
