There is literally nothing to do on the enormous island. I ran into ONE pig and saw a condor or dragon or something in the sky overhead. The highlight of my play time was finding the big dwarf looking statues. I am so annoyed at devs who buy an asset pack and throw it onto steam with no changes. We definitely are NOT fooled and Early Access doesn't cover up for the fact that you have done nothing. Avoid. https://youtu.be/5VZwjPSGzpg
my number one gripe #### no map that i can find. WHY are so many devs not putting a map in their games? it is insane and a gamebreaker for me and many, many others. i create unreal environments and assets for a living. it costs under $20 and takes less than 20 minutes to put a map into a game. there is no reason to build a base in this or any other mapless game because once you leave you will never see your base again. ok, all the systems work just fine. there is an extensive list of crafting and building parts. there's a ton of palm trees and no others that i have found. the trees have coconuts that work as food and some water, otherwise you'd be dead pretty quick. i have not yet found any source of water or other edible plants. i have seen one bunch of chickens and nothing else no other living thing has crossed my path. the world APPEARS to be empty. i walked what would be miles in game before i found mineable stone. when i first spawned on the beach near grass i walked miles and found zero stones. with no stones you can build nothing. the 2nd time i spawned in a sandy area and stones were everywhere. you can, given enough time , fell a tree with your fists and you can probably bust a rock if you can find one the store page shows other humans, possibly enemies. haven't seen them. the bed does not allow you to sleep. really????? the curser is barely visible and 2 feet to the right. it is hard to pick anything up because you can't see the curser and it's wayyyy off. this should have been caught and corrected the first 30 seconds of testing the game. poorly designed steaming pile will be refunding when my demo time runs out
this game is not bad at all. it takes forever to find your first stone but after you walk for a while you will eventually find one. there still needs to have things added such as crouching and more animals i only seen 4 chickens while walking. the map is pretty big and is pretty to look at. hopefully they will keep updating this game and make it better.
At this time, I would not recommend this to a friend simply because there is not much to do in the game. Some effort into development would need to occur but i won't refund it because i want to believe that something more will happen with this. I may be foolish for thinking that but it was only $10. Edit: I see that there is now a pig and chicken coop that have been added but there are no notes on the community hub page that I saw indication these additions. I do not think that they were there before so it looks like some development is occurring.
Played for 2.6hrs, so far its really quite good - played lots of games like this and this really has potential. Definitely more fun if there's more than one of you. Looking forward to future updates for sure. Awesome
One of the worst survival games I have played - and i have tried a lot of them. Firstly, when you load up the game, and click "start new game" or w.e, it drops you straight in the game. No context, no tutorial, no explanation of anything (Which i don't mind too much, as i can figure it out - but to some, this is important, so i will mention it). Secondly, You get to "Customise" your character, except the only options are a bunch of stupid trendy hair styles and 7 shades of pink for trousers (American: Pants), so you just look like some trendy douchebag with bracelets and earrings walking around with top-knot and pink trousers, which is terrible. Thirdly, the search for wood is easy (trees are in abundance), however, it takes 50 hits (Yes, 50.) to harvest one tree (2 damage per hit, 100HP tree) - so after a couple, your hunger and thirst suffer, which requires food and drink (obviously and fairly enough) but, the only option you really have is coconuts which spoil every 200 seconds, so you're always racing a spoil time to try and stay at status quo, additionally, you need stones which aren't in abundance at all, you can only pick up mid size ones from the floor (you need 3 to make a sharp stone, that is then used to make a pickaxe, which, when used against a large rock, does absolutely nothing and harvests nothing). Fourthly, Every recipe in the game requires stupid amounts of resources (9 Stones for a campfire, when stones are super rare, which means you cannot cook any food to actually survive and again, default back to coconuts). Fifthly, The is no options to toggle 1st person, so not only are you forced to look at a douchebag character that doesn't look like he'd have any chance of surviving a shoe shop closing for more than 5 minutes (let alone randomly surviving in a random place for no reason), you are also forced to work against an off-centre cursor (so you character always looks like he is looking beside everything that you want to interact with). Sixthly (if that's a word), When night falls it is literally pitch black, so you make a torch which only lights about 2 steps around you and actually makes it harder to see anything further than that tiny radius - so it doesn't even really serve its purpose that well and you just have to stand there and wait for the night to finish while you starve and dehydrate. And finally, there are no options to increase the accessibility of the game for people (For example, increase/decrease Gamma, Or increasing the opacity of the cursor (which is almost impossible to see), Or changing the random grass density (as most of the scenery is non-interactable but still hides the things you actually can interact with), etc) It is just a complete fail across the board and there are cheaper games that are far better, more immersive, more interesting, have better lore, more accessibility options, more game features, Co-op and even skills to level up too. Don't waste your money on it - Don't even buy it when it is on offer, you'll still be cheated out of money - I bought this a while back and have only just played it recently (so i cannot get this refunded) and after a few minutes of playing, I was already sick of it, i am not going to waste time going against so many issues and errors just to see it through to late/end game, because it is isn't worth it - and with the stuff that i mentioned, i am pretty sure that all the stuff that is shown in the pictures of this game will likely be a nut strain to do anyway. You've been warned
Played 3hr at time of review. This is a great little game so far. Managing your thirst and hunger are top priority starting out. once you have the basics down you can start getting some buildings going and better tools. (( Press J for your journal and get antiquated with the basics. )) In my short play i managed to get a house with a bed to spawn in, better crafting, food and water and storage. With that sorted it was off to explore. I used the sun and moon in the sky as a compass ( rise in east set in west sort of thing ) and started my journey :) Cant wait to see whats over those mountains.
