A wonderfully witty roleplaying game about the historical figure Simon Forman. Take on the persona of this odd doctor-astrologer and involve yourself in a host of historical events and in the lives of various historical figures from early 17th Century England. Will you interpret the stars in a way to - hopefully - give the best medical advice for your patients? Or will you tell them only what they wish to hear, to ensure a letter of recommendation towards obtaining a coveted medical license? And how often will you achieve coitus post consultatio? The fantastic subject matter, absurdly clever writing and good voice acting make this a very strong recommendation to anyone with an interest in the works of Shakespeare, medicine, British history, astrology and/or ribaldry.
A most captivating and humorous adventure!
Delightful, quirky, dryly witty game where you play Simon, a less-than-scrupulous astrologer-♥♥♥-doctor in Elizabethan London. Your aim is to get your patients to like you and write you letters of recommendation but it's not always apparent whether you will get farther by being honest or being flattering with each of them. And either way, your treatments might not work. It's a fun send-up of the time period and knowing each character will come back keeps you wanting to play to see where their stories go.
Great fast little game- playtime includes several hours of wandering away between cases. Admittedly it has a very specific approach- you're in the overlap of enjoying casual history, games that play with what a game can be, and everyone getting a theme song, you might also dig it!
BABADO
Nice concept, good voice acting and music. Funny game overall.
太好玩了。然而,道德抉择使我胃疼。
Astrologaster is an amazing display of what bringing together historical research and game design can do. It's an engaging and genuinely funny story with very a very high production value. Being an astrology nerd helps but is not required. Just make sure you don't go in expecting a choose-your-own-adventure type of game. This is for all intends and purposes a visual novel, and while you can choose between different diagnoses and predictions to the visitors that come to the good doctor for advise, this can for the most part only affect your character's relationship with them, not the overall flow of the story.
A funny visual novel style game where your astrological advice will determine how happy and trusting your patients are with your work. This is important because you need at least recommendations from 8 of them to cheat your way to a proper medical license. In my playthrough however, I came 5% short on the happiness meter for my 8th recommendation. What a load of fa la la la la la la la la la.
