Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 22 → 0.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's a co-op souls-like at heart. I've read that multiplayer only works on Epic Games, but better look for yourselves. It's playable solo aswell. You just get a wonky bot. They can be OP, but also 1-shots, because they have some lemming tendencies, like drowning themselves. Enjoyable game, but... It's a copy-paste fiesta. If you've seen the enemies of the starting zone, you've, in essence, seen the whole game. Heavy asset reuse and attack pattern reuse. They've been creative with it, so the zones are pretty distinct, but that's it. In addition, to stretch the game, they rely on really long walks between save points, especially when you're close to the end. Balance for the final bosses is kind of tough, but manageable. The DLC is fine, but really aggregious with the very long walk between boss tries. You basically have to run through a whole dungeon to get to the boss again. This game features a lot of verticality and climbing, but the climbing is kind of wonky. This game is also very dark. It's a feature of this game to be in dark rooms and only being able to see a small distance with your lantern. I've set the gamma as expected by the developers, but I think even cranking up the gamma wouldn't change much, since it's a dedicated mechanic. Story is kind of meh aswell. Good time, but only, if you've already played every other souls-like you wanted to play. Bonus: You can't skip the credits. It won't even progress, if you have the game not focussed. To me the devs are a bit too full of themselves, for the copy-paste low-effort they've slopped out.

I really wish I could recommend this game to people, but I can't. Between there being some people having problems being able to play the game BECAUSE OF THE CPU THEY HAVE, the game's balancing being non-existent, and the game lacking in variety that makes souls-like games fun to play, it's just not something you should get.
This is a good game, not great, just good. The controls are clunky, the combat is basic, the final and DLC bosses hit like a truck and rarely give you a second to breathe, especially on Children of Sissna mode. This has the potential to be a good game, so I hope more games like this get made, as they are on track to be good souls-like games. 7/10 - I will never forgive you, Sissna.
I recommend Ashen wholeheartedly. It is beautiful to look at. The art style is unique and the biomes evoke distinct moods. Your first glimpse of the Cracked Path is breathtaking, and the views from inside the Palace of Lathyrus are gorgeous. With the fall of the Ashen, the world was imprisoned in shadow. He is waking up, and you are helping overthrow those who would keep the world in the dark. The voice acting is excellent, if a bit dramatic. As you complete quests you meet new characters, establish a village, improve your crafting, and extend your reach. The combat rewards patience and rhythm. Keep moving, avoid incoming attacks, and land a hit or two of your own when you can. That's a pretty standard strategy, but you'll get into trouble if you try to bash your way through in a rush. Wait to see which moves your opponent has, wait for him to commit to his last swing in a combo, then (and this where the rhythm matters) move in, strike, and dodge away. If you're dying a lot, wait for safer openings, take fewer swings when you get one, and dodge away sooner. There are dozens of 1H and 2H weapons to be found, with at least 20 different movesets between them. (There's an excellent breakdown on Reddit entitled "Ashen Movesets and Builds".) I like the Balled Club (1H) and the Cleaving Axe (2H). A few are noticeably weak, but most do damage within about 15% of each other. The movesets give them each a "feel" which is just as important as the damage numbers. Find ones you like before investing resources upgrading them. I'm writing this review in 2026. I've played through normal mode a few times, each one taking around 26 hours (I'm not fast.) I played solo and always had one of the NPC villagers as a companion. Yes, they make some questionable decisions sometimes, but you figure out how to use them. I saw no crashes or hangs or other performance issues. The worst things that happened were occasional pathing issues for the NPC companions and a QoL bug adding to stacks in the storage chest when all the slots are occupied. Nothing significant. Cheers!
a lot of bugs
i dont even own this why is it asking for a review
Great if you enjoy souls-likes. Interesting bosses and mechanics but the game is very short. Must play with a friend.
Breaks my heart to recommend against this game 'cuz it seems really good! However it 1: does not boot without crashing without ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with your environmental variables (shoutouts and thanks to user SifuSam!) And 2: Freezing up and forcing you to End Process after every twenty minutes of play or so. Seemed like it had a lot more to offer! If it ever gets a stability patch, maybe give it a go, but as of right now? Game Does Not Work.
