A large world. Grind your way to the end credits. As opposed to getting chest pains from the intensity or stuck and/or discouraged in the middle. Cheap too. Which is important when the danger exists of spending $60 and getting stuck, overwhelmed or just not liking it.
I mean, sure, it isn't an AMAZING game or anything. But honestly, it was cute enough for me to keep playing. Some of the design choices caught my attention (like assigning gems) and none of it was so unpalatable that I stopped playing. Don't drop a ton of money on this, especially if you aren't a JRPG fan already, but if you enjoy the genre you'll find this game enjoyable enough to not regret purchasing it, especially on sale. Basically, its a mid-level game at a mid-level price.
Good things : - old school gameplay - good sprites - game is challenging at expert difficulty - jewel system Bad things : - Very repetetive soundtrack - Some plots elements are short and unpolished - Dungeons are straight forward and reuse old textures - Final (True ending) dungeon is not balanced well (you have to grind a lot to beat it at hard/expert) Conclusion : 6/10 - If you are a fan of old school JRPGS - go for it.
This game was truly terrible. When I moved, the camera jittered. The buttons flashed like they were in a 70s disco. The writing was putting me to sleep. If it hadn't come in one of a bundle, I'd be asking for a refund.
Initial Review Menu music - better than the earlier 2015 title Alphadia Genesis, complex composition with more instruments and deeper bass frequencies. 6/10 More details later.
