Fena değil ama sonlara doğru sıkıyor .
Calling this game weird is an understatement. It's so weird lol. Might be their (+kaze-t circle) signature trait though since I've played other two of their games (Katagiri-san games selling on steam as well) and it's similar in weirdness. Have you played horror RPG Maker games in their peak years ago? Ao Oni, Ib, etc. Yeah, 1/3 of this game is those stuff, with another parts being RPG mechanic and porn. Not that it has horror element or anything, but it has the same gritty dark-ish joke theme. It wanna be a satire porn game, but at the same time getting lowkey gore and serious all of a sudden. It's that kind of weird. --and that makes it unique and interesting. Honestly a solid game. Nice gameplay, CGs, story, character interactions, and carry itself through the end quite smoothly.
Asa-Chan Wants to Go Home!, developed by プラスカゼット and published by Hanabi Games, is a narrative-driven indie RPG that takes a familiar isekai premise and reshapes it into something far more intimate and eccentric. The story follows Asa, an ordinary high school girl who suddenly finds herself transported to a strange and unsettling fantasy world. Her primary goal is simple and deeply human: she wants to return home. Yet the path toward that goal is anything but straightforward. What unfolds is a journey through bizarre landscapes, surreal encounters, and emotionally charged relationships that blur the line between adventure and introspection. Rather than leaning solely on grand heroic fantasy, the game focuses on Asa’s personal reactions to her displacement, grounding the experience in her vulnerability and determination. Gameplay adheres to classic 2D Japanese RPG traditions, combining overworld exploration with turn-based combat encounters. Movement through towns, dungeons, and wilderness areas feels familiar to fans of retro-inspired RPGs, with a straightforward interface and accessible mechanics. Combat emphasizes resource management, careful skill selection, and understanding enemy patterns rather than deep tactical complexity. While the system is not mechanically intricate compared to large-scale RPG franchises, it remains functional and consistent, supporting the pacing of the narrative. Battles serve less as a showcase of strategic depth and more as a structural rhythm that punctuates story progression and character development. A major strength of the game lies in its character dynamics. Asa’s personality is not defined by exaggerated heroism but by relatability—confusion, frustration, and moments of reluctant bravery shape her journey. Early in the story she encounters Beep, an unusual companion whose presence adds both emotional depth and unpredictability. Their evolving relationship becomes central to the experience, unfolding through dialogue exchanges, story events, and shared struggles. The writing strikes a balance between absurd humor and genuine emotional beats, allowing moments of levity to coexist with darker undertones. This character-driven approach gives the game a sense of cohesion even when the world itself becomes increasingly surreal. Visually, Asa-Chan Wants to Go Home! blends retro pixel environments with detailed character artwork and illustrated scenes during key narrative moments. The art style leans heavily into anime-inspired aesthetics, with expressive character portraits and distinctive creature designs that reinforce the game’s offbeat tone. The fantasy realm feels dreamlike and occasionally disorienting, with strange enemies and unexpected environments that contribute to a constant sense of unease. The soundtrack complements this atmosphere, shifting between lighter melodic pieces during exploration and more intense compositions during combat or emotional climaxes. Together, the audiovisual presentation reinforces the game’s surreal identity without overwhelming its narrative focus. One of the more distinctive aspects of the game is its willingness to explore mature themes within its storytelling. These elements are woven directly into the narrative rather than presented as superficial additions, contributing to the emotional and psychological layers of Asa’s journey. The tone can shift abruptly from whimsical to unsettling, reflecting the instability of her situation and the strangeness of the world she inhabits. This bold tonal blend may not resonate with every player, but it undeniably gives the game a strong and memorable identity. The presence of branching paths and multiple endings further encourages replayability, inviting players to explore alternative choices and outcomes that deepen their understanding of the characters and setting. Despite its strengths, the game does not attempt to compete with high-budget RPGs in terms of expansive systems or cinematic spectacle. Its scope is more intimate, prioritizing story and character over mechanical innovation. Some players may find the combat too straightforward or the pacing uneven at times, especially when transitioning between lighter exploration and heavier narrative sequences. However, these limitations also highlight the game’s commitment to its core vision: delivering a personal and emotionally charged adventure framed within a classic RPG structure. Ultimately, Asa-Chan Wants to Go Home! stands out as a distinctive indie RPG that combines retro gameplay foundations with surreal storytelling and character-focused writing. Its blend of humor, vulnerability, and fantasy creates an experience that feels both nostalgic and unconventional. For players who appreciate narrative-driven adventures with strong character dynamics and a willingness to embrace strange tonal shifts, the game offers a memorable journey that lingers long after the credits roll. Rating: 7/10
After meeting "Soul" the game crashes. I only see a black screen with 3 white rectangles on top of this screen. Thanks to the incompetence of the developers.
