About
As We Descend is a strategy roguelike deckbuilder set in an apocalyptic world with dual-layered deckbuilding: you must play your cards right in both dangerous expeditions and the last city of humankind.

Recruit new squads of units by utilizing scavenged technology. Each squad is a unique archetype with its own set of cards which can be added, removed, and upgraded. Deploy the right composition of forces in order to tailor your deck for success against each battle encounter.
The city is the last bastion of humanity and serves as your main base. Familiarize yourself with its denizens so you can survive its feudal politics and gain allies. Roll the dice to compel those in the city to your cause. Make the most of your limited time and resources so you can prepare sufficiently for the future.
Against titanic enemies, you must rely on not just strength but wit. Adapt your tactics by reacting to enemy intents. Master the combat zone system: reposition your forces between the Guard Zone and the Support Zone in order to dodge enemy attacks and set up a defensive line.
Each descent contains countless challenges, including surviving the post-apocalypse. Scavenge the resources you need to defend and upgrade as you attempt to break through the three biomes to enter the core. Rewards and mysteries both await you beneath the surface. Even if you fail, you will uncover new secrets and begin the next journey with new knowledge and tools to delve ever deeper.
Hailing from one of the three great factions of the City-Vault, you hold the key to its fate amidst the post-apocalypse. Outmaneuver the medieval politics of the city and unearth its deepest secrets. As the first and last line of defense for the city walls, you must hold the line...

Unfortunately, the game is so buggy that some options and selections don't work. The bug report doesn't work. The window for upgrading cards doesn't work. Sometimes you can't progress because certain windows don't open. I'm going to return the game and maybe try it again someday.
Wow, what a great game! Had it on wishlist for a while, was waiting for more content/3rd faction but couldn't resist and pulled the trigger during this summer sale and couldn't be happier. So this game seems to have lots and lots of replayability. Cards, units, perks, different origins (factions), techs (relics) and all that on top of managing your city through various events/different places. The sheer scope of this game is incredible. It's one of those games where everything worked for me, the aesthetics, gameplay. Special shoutout to whoever did the musical score, just epic stuff! Gameplay wise, game can be considered on a more difficult side (and I am saying that as someone who played lots of roguelike deckbuilders) which in my opinion is a big plus. Too many games of the genre tend to go very easy in the beginning which usually leads to somewhat boring experience or at least satisfaction within a few hours. Not this game, I could see myself sinking a lot more, at the very least getting last few achievements. It also has that Darkest Dungeon vibe in terms of trying really hard to keep all your squads alive cause if they start dying, it doesn't get easier. As for negatives, I can't think of any. People will complain about rng at higher difficulties as they always do, and at importance of early drafted units but if you are playing at high ascensions or descensions here, you already got big value for your buck. I too have steam rolled until act 3 boss with some whacky dauntless javelin build and then met caustic commando who absolutely destroyed me. Makes me want to play a lot more. So overall, a highly polished game which I would already consider one of the best in the genre. Well worth the buy even for full price if you are remotely a fan of roguelike deckbuilders.
Interesting concept paired with a great visual style, the many combinations and synergies make every run unique and interesting
+ Amazing art, diverse unit development (can sup or provide power), doesn't take long to finish a run. - The unlock of after-game is batch not systematical, which mean we can't unlock features in few game even the condition is met. The progress is step by step that brings more time to play to game in order to unlock all set. The combination takes luck to RNG it (without s/l), which brings some annoying if want some specific build. Conclusion: It still develops, I keep great expectation on it. Edit: The unlock path only blocks at first node. After that all activities will be accumulative for other progress. I've found some versatile play-style across basic unit (can play firepower or support, but vanguard still only sup ;\ )
good game
高难度也没有太轮椅的角色阿为啥要把骑士改了,不懂经常更新老是对着游戏平衡下手干什么,高难度本身就很折磨还得一直修修改改把比较简单的套路都给改垃圾了
I am still debating over if I recommend it or not. I need to play more runs, but still want to give my feedback at this point. Game seems to have a lot of variety and depth. I wonder how this is going to go down. Is it an illusion or not? On the runs I have played, I have done them successfully except one where I messed up (game is punishing) and I also build my squads to remain flexible for bosses. The more runs I do, the more I like this game. It does still need some QoL, like targeting indicators from the enemies. You manage to understand some things but sometimes it just hits a random unit in melee and this sucks. I dont think random hitting is a good thing in roguelikes in general when its on every battle. I love the city-building cycles that they use to make it flow. I love the army/deck building + player building (the Lantern). But reading the other comments prior to playing this game, I can see how some not-veterans (I do not consider slay the spire players to be veterans...) of the genre can meet a wall since some bosses will be resistant to specific things (and then proceed to crush you for being not flexible). Btw, this can happen in StS as well. So if your strategy is to focus on a range build uniquely, you have a chance to be completely destroyed by a specific boss for lacking anything else. I believe in the developer for continuing to do a pretty good job with this game and wish them the best with the feedback and for the official release.
Good game with some decent unit combinations. Still waiting for the third faction to be added and more. It got a promising future if the devs keep updating their game.
