Game is interesting in itself, but it has a few issues that makes me not recommend it in current state. First problem is the interface. While it looks amazing it is awful to use. You need way too many clicks to do basic stuff, and information is often hiden in different windows than it is needed. For example whn you are trying to setup your mage's inventory or skills you need to keep switching to a different window to see what they need and then back to inventory screen to assign that thing (total of 6 clicks to switch to each window). On top of that some information (eg. current stats of buildings) are completely unavailable and I had to do math myself to calculate what are those stats (You can still see the new stats in ugrade screen). A better interface with information provided where it needs to be would be huge help. The second problem is an issue typical to this genre of games: your powns spend 90% of time walking between places My reaper walked all the way to the reaping machine then back to library, and themmoment he reached library he had to turn around because he was needed in the reaping machine again. And this with only 3 blocks of distance between both places. Game definaately needs rebalancing with its walking vs working times. Third problem is random bugs that happened, for example I lost my run because no one was replenishing the traps, and I wan unable to increase priority (It kept changing it immediately back to normal priority). There aren't many bugs but those that exist are significant enough to kill the entire run. Add the fact that you can have only one savefile, so you cannot return to older save if a bug destroyed you. All of this makes this game kinda playable and kinda enjoyable, but frustrating enough that for current state of the game I will say thumbs down. But I am definitely going to return to the game next year.
It's a cute game with more to like than dislike. You build you school and make money by selling stuff and training students and fighting off raids from monsters. Plenty of options for modes to make the game play at the rate you like. My biggest complaints are around the UI and QOL like Alerts don't clear when they are done and can't just be cleared with a quick click, It's not always easy to tell if you are out of something until you queue it up to make it, and cycling through mages and students it not as clean as it should be. Otherwise the graphics are cute and no real issues with overall gameplay if you don't mind the constant hunt and pick. Micromanagment healpers are unlocked with verious research and room upgrades. I'd feel a bit better if this was an Early Access title with polish and QOL features coming before release. But it's not a horrible game and if like the idea of a side scroll management game combined with tower defense you may find something fun here. Especially if you customize the dificulty to your style of play. EDIT: The game has not been out the long and the developer is adding QOL changes to fix issues players are reporting. Some of the issues I listed above have been addressed and more sound to be coming soon. Always nice to have an attentive developer.
This is an amazingly charming little game. It's a combination of tower defense and colony simulation/management. The premise is adorable and simple, but I've been entertained for hours restarting the towers and trying to find the intricacies of balance. I feel like I've received more than my money's worth as I've spent 20ish hours in the game at this point, and I still know there are parts of the game I haven't reached yet because I keep choosing to restart towers. (That's a me thing. I absolutely still could have progressed all current saves. I just know I can do better, and why would I wait to do better?!) As one heckin' of a bonus, the (seemingly? I haven't fact checked this one, but it seems like it's one person) one-person developer team is hugely involved with correcting bugs and errors. They excel at listening to feedback on quality of life wishes. Even the teeniest, tiniest of things that don't typically really matter overall. Most of the stuff that I've stumbled across that was pulling me out of the game has already been corrected in the last few days, and none of it was truly game-breaking. Just spoiled gamer things. The only thing that I truly am meh about in the game in its present state is how many different versions of the same skill there are, and how they are governed by different traits in some aspects; however, the developer has already acknowledged it and made statements about considering how better to approach the system. Even though this has the potential to make it really feel very tedious, at the end of the day, this hasn't really **MATTERED** to my tower progression, either.
First of all, I like the game and the price is completely okay, so I want to leave a like. More to follow when I have more playing time. Okay, after 27 hours: Artificer's Tower is a relaxing game with tower defense elements (a few) but the main focus is on management, planning and automation gameplay. In my second playthrough, which was also necessary to understand how to build most efficiently, I often had phases where the game was just running in the background at maximum speed. (Thanks to the developer that this game doesn't pause when you minimize it) This is just because my magicians could create lots of things. I think it appealed to me for the first 30 hours as an experienced player of this genre. For newbies it might be fun for even longer. But all in all the game is worth the money, expensive is different. Price-performance ratio top. There are few requirements for the PC for this adventure and apart from the fact that I sometimes had to save and load to avoid minor bugs, everything ran smoothly. So take a look, you usually won't go wrong here.
Hestitantly recommended for people with a high tolerance for frustration. On the one hand, there's an interesting gameplay challenge, and the animations and graphics are just gorgeous. The downside is a user interface that is poorly designed, idiosyncratic, and the bugs with selecting mages from the overview lists are especially hard to forgive. There's no real doubt that it hooked me, but I'd have vastly preferred for the skills I learned to have more to do with understanding the game, and less to do with understanding the user interface.
Review at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xznhXB8OhuA A fun little game and I am curious too see where it will take me. It has lots of micro managing for this type of game. As expected there is a big learning curve for this game. I enjoy the graphics and the fun little quirks of the game. i still have more to play and for sure!
Loving the game so far. Super fun. Love the look and feel of the game and the cross of resource management with tower defence.. I can already tell this is going to be one well worth the money.
*************************** Artificer's Tower is a cozy tower defense game where you build a tower by constructing different rooms in which you craft items to feed the wizards and apprentices living in the tower and successfully defend the tower if it is attacked. By exploring different areas, you can improve the rooms or build new ones. If you want to play a not too stressful tower defense game, you should take a look at Artificer's Tower.
:) I can recommend the game to anyone who likes magic school games with business/management, construction and TD elements! It's really fun! In addition, the developer is very active and responds immediately to errors that are reported. :) Thx to Jason for the Game! Greets Reinhold
Oxygen Not Included in Hogwarts, with more Tower Defense. Really solid, tight gameplay loops. Excited to see how it develops.
