Game simply DOES NOT WORK! There are so many fixes I have tried and every single one has failed. DO NOT RESPECT THE "lmao sound like a u problem" comments they do NOT understand extremely basic logic. If the game is sold on Steam, it should just work (and maybe sometimes needing a simple fix). I understand its an older game that utilizes older software, but WHY sell it on Steam in a completely broken state? DO NOT BUY!
Game has a lot of issues working on modern hardware. Download the Compatibility Patch on Pcgamingwiki, this fixed it for me.

Unfortunately even though I remember the game fondly, it doesn't seem to work with newer hardware. Textures don't load, there's flickering, the main menu is just a grey screen, etc. So unless you can somehow get this game to work, I don't recommend it. And yes, I did try tinkering with the files.
🟢 THE GREEN ARMY MARCHES AGAIN 🟢 Recommended After more than two decades, Army Men RTS proves that some battles never truly end. I first played this game when I was younger, and coming back to it years later brought back memories I honestly thought were buried somewhere in my childhood gaming history. Building bases. Collecting plastic resources. Commanding tiny soldiers. Fighting the Tan Army. It was never just another RTS game. For many of us, this was childhood. And now, after returning to the battlefield, I can proudly report: The Green Army is still standing. The Battlefield Experience Army Men RTS is a classic real-time strategy game that captures something many modern RTS games have lost: simplicity, charm, and personality. The concept sounds ridiculous on paper: Plastic soldiers fighting a war across backyards, kitchens, gardens, and toy-filled battlefields. But somehow... It works. The game has a unique atmosphere that you simply do not find anymore. Every unit feels memorable, every mission feels like an adventure, and the entire world feels like a child's imagination turned into a full-scale military operation. There is something special about watching little green soldiers march across the battlefield while hearing those classic RTS sounds. It feels nostalgic in the best possible way. ⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MODERN PLAYERS Since this game was released in 2002, modern Windows systems can sometimes be a bigger enemy than the Tan Army itself. When I first launched the game, I encountered: Black screens DirectX compatibility errors Frozen menus Very low resolutions Compatibility problems on modern hardware At one point, I genuinely thought: "How is my modern gaming laptop struggling against a plastic soldier game?" 😂 The irony was beautiful. 🪖 BATTLEFIELD RESTORATION OPERATION Thankfully, the Steam community came to the rescue. I followed a community guide that restored the game beautifully on modern systems: Steam Guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2674418648 Full credit goes to the original guide creator and the amazing mod creators who developed these improvements. I am only sharing my experience because this helped me bring the game back to life. The improvements included: ✅ HD texture upgrades ✅ Modern resolution support (1080p / 1440p / 4K) ✅ Anti-aliasing improvements ✅ Better texture filtering ✅ ReShade visual improvements After applying the fixes, Army Men RTS transformed from an old 2002 game struggling on modern computers into the game I remembered — but sharper, cleaner, and much more enjoyable. My Final Battle Report After the restoration: The soldiers deployed. The bases were built. The Tan Army was engaged. Army Men RTS now runs beautifully. Smooth. Stable. Playable. Exactly how this legendary RTS deserves to be experienced. Final Verdict If you played Army Men RTS as a kid, this is your sign to return. If you never played it before, do not judge this game only by its age. Behind the old graphics is a genuinely charming RTS experience with personality, creativity, and a ridiculous amount of nostalgia. Not every classic game needs to be remade. Sometimes... It just needs someone to repair the battlefield. The Green Army marches again. FOR PLASTIC. FOR GLORY. FOR THE GREEN ARMY. Recommendation: YES
i bought this game but every time i open it to play, all i see is a grey screen and i cant see anything. i can click around and hear the audio but the entire screen is grey. im playing this on my laptop (no issues running other games) can someone help me fix this
this game neads a remake with the new wolrd grapics
This game takes me back to the GAMECUBE era when nintendo was peak. Still as fun as I remember and it works perfectly fine on windows 11 if you go and download the compatibility patch that is mentioned throughout the community/reviews columns.
