This game is actually kind of scary.. the freakish creatures that come after you make you squirm when they get close (especially that demon child piece of crap thing).. the guns feel good (except that you have to point upwards too high with a couple guns..) It's very satisfying to land shots. Didn't play all that long and I came across a decent variety of weapons.. this is the first time I've used a flamethrower in VR and it made me happy.. The environment is nice too.. simple, but it has a nice feel (night on city streets.. creepy style). Big monsters come for you too.. extra scary. I want a chainsaw. serioulsy.
I actually thought this game would suck with its N64 looking graphics, but this is one of my favorite HTC Vive games. It is just very fun to play. I'm sick of VR games being soo complicated to figure out to play lately. Tis is a get up, grab and go kick ass game. Very good music that amps to blow zombies assess to pieces. I have played over and over again, can't say that for all the other 20+ dollar games I bought for VR. Now with the recent udate this game is like 2x b etter graphics, fun, and animation and immersion. Might be the best Vive game I own. And i own 52 and all the expensive ones.
I have all the Zombie games from the awful "Into the Dead" to Brookhaven and this is by far, my favorite. Ok - not a lot of story here but if you like standing your ground against hordes of zombies, this is awesome. Graphics are solid, decent assortment of weapons, and the game is tough.
pretty good zombie shooter. gets really intense and lets you unload a ton of lead versus zombies. i made a 2 minute review of the game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgGam9FXrOw
Great intro to VR for me. This game has loads of potential and I am really looking forward to the final product. Can't wait to see what features are added as they add more to this terrific start.
This game is okay in it's content, it's basically an arcadey zombie game like house of the dead or something, but in VR instead of with a light gun. That's pretty much where the good parts end. For some reason all of the 3 guns I've tried are flat black, even when shining my headlamp directly on them, and they all have ridiculous sights that don't make any sense. I'll attribute the blackness to a lighting bug, but it was present when I got this game in September and it is still present. Because the sights are black, and the background is black, this means you're generally lining up black on black and just guessing. The sidearm has a glowing sight, which should help, but the rear part is insanely skinny and tall for some reason, meaning it's impossible to actually line up a shot with it. This is in my opinion the single worst aspect of this game. I only played two missions. In the second mission, you have to wait several minutes while the zombies shamble towards you while taking potshots with your weird sights. Luckily, there are bright white tracers that you can use to hip fire semi-accurately from this distance, so you might get a few. By the time they are near you, they will be overwhelming. The best strategy I found was to hold a chainsaw in one hand to take out one line of zombies and fire a sidearm (the weakest weapon in the game) into the faces of the other line until they were all gone. Of course, you will run out of ammo quickly if you don't periodically check the ammo thingy that spawns directly behind you and shoot it. If you somehow manage to grind this method for the 60-90 seconds you need to to get through the wave, there's a boss! Yay! The boss shoots missiles at you which are ridiculously hard to dodge (unless you squat) and when they hit you they make you mostly blind with a weird green smoke effect. Since you're, you know, blind, you're almost certain to get hit with another blindness missile. So now you're mostly blind, firing a pistol at a flying shadow that you can barely see, aiming with tracers because your sights suck. After that, there was a seemingly invincible smoke cloud throwing babies at me and I rage quit. Do not buy this game, it's not worth $20 in its current state (12/5/17). Go get Brookhaven or HordeZ instead.
This review has been edited on 17/6/2016: The reviewer has changed his opinion on this game and heartily recommends this game to others; The initial review was written on the launch day of the games initial launch. This game has since seen a lot of work from the developers and both the gameplay and graphics of the game have been improved drastically. I wanted to like this game. I loved HordeZ and Brookhaven. [Edit: And now I do! See above] Gameplay wise; you can complete the only level of this game in about 20 minutes. There is very little. [Edit: Difficulty has since been tweaked and more areas added. There are also boss fights and more areas are planned - unline with most developers I actually sincerely believe this games developer; Unity3D will follow through.] Graphically: This game is horrifically ugly; primarily due to the greyed out and extremely short view distance against a garishly dark and oppressively low skybox. The models themselves are quite hideous (in a good way) but since they move so slowly and start so far away, you literally have to stand with your arms at your side for minutes before they get close enough for you to appreciate them. [Edit: Skybox has been improved and the "greyed out" distance has also been drastically altered. The game also has improved lighting now too.] Also the animations all look like they have messed their underwears, which made me giggle for a few rounds. [Edit: The above mentioned animations have also been tweaked.... although admittedly there is still that funny gait sometimes... *giggle*] Lastly, the game simply is not scary, the poor graphics and jarring screenbox steal what eery mystique the darkness may have given the game and there is really no sense of pressure! The tone of the game lurches about frequenty which further spoils any mood, with the ambient music veering wildly between silence, creepy music and action music and (rather bizarrely) random disco-style pink /gren lighting and carnival music. [Edit: As mentioned above, graphics have been drastically overhauled and the sense of jarring surrealism has been somewhat dissipated. The game does still have a few 'off-tone' moments (Im glaring at You here 'Frenzy Mode') but with the recent updates the fear factor has definatly been increased. In fact the overwhelming impression was merely a malais of boredom which made the "wacky" 'Frenzy-modes' come across as merely desperate. [Edit: Still not a fan of this level... The challenge has been upped and the zombies movements made more speedy and menacing which means there is little time for boredom.] I feel strongly that this game is NOT ready for any kind of release, not even alpha, and especially not at wht amounts to a "premium quality" price-tag for VR games. Stack this game up against similarly prized gems such as Space Pirate Trainer, or HordeZ or even the Brookhaven (free) demo and the low-level of quality of this game is quite appalling. [Edit: Well more or less disregard this paragraph. It stacks up pretty well now.] Much work remains to be done, including for the developers to choose a tone and theme and GO with it instead of lurching horrible between failing attempts at horror or action or.. 'carnival'. [Edit: Much work has been done.] I hope in 6 months time to be playing this game again, in a more completed and polished format but until then, save your time and money because right now, this game simply is not worth it. [Edit: It didn't even take them 6 months! I'm excited to see how much BETTER the game can get! :D Thank you for changing my mind Unity3D!]
I appreciate that this title exists and I am grateful to have been given it for free in a giveaway. This one is not a title I can recommend, unfortunately, as it's just another VR zombie wave shooter. It's not bad but it's not good. There are better wave shooters out there. There's just noneed for this one. 10 minutes was about enough time to come to this conclusion, honestly.
