IT'S AWESOME
Despite the issues that Arma Reforger currently has, like the game crashing on a semi-regular basis for some or bullet hit registration not always working as expected, there is no other game out there right now that I can think of that provides the experience of a Reforger match besides another Arma game. Reforger puts you on massive maps and essentially says "have at it." In PVP you will be building up bases, capturing outposts, running supplies, defending strategic locations, and trying to outhink and/or outgun the enemy who are doing all those same things. Maybe you find yourself in a well-coordinated squad and you move and act cohesively to achieve whichever objective(s) you've agreed to. However, you may be in a disorganized squad or find yourself going solo. In those cases the best thing you can do is be a nuasance for the enemy team. Pick them off at distance, be stealthy, just always be a problem for them. You may find yourself behind enemy lines and will need to think about how and when you move in an attempt to avoid being spotted. You could steal some enemy supplies and sabotage them on your way back to the relative safety of one of your bases. You could even steal an enemy radio to listen in on their communications. Steal a uniform if you're feeling brave to trick them. In the few PVE modes Reforger has you and a group of other players fight against some unsuspectingly competent NPC enemies. Some of the most fun I've had in this game is during the PVE modes when we all kit ourselves out and go off to steamroll some NPCs while talking about nonsense. In PVP I've had experiences that I would never find in another FPS. The closest another game I've previously played could possibly come to Reforger would be some of the larger maps from Battlefield 3 like Caspian Border, maybe Battlefield 1943, and Battlefield 4 like Hanian Resort. However, it's a tenous connection at best. Battlefield's mechanics and player interactions are simply not at the same level as Arma, let alone Reforger specifcally. The map Everon alone dwarfs all other Battlefield maps I've played since Bad Company on the PS3. The map size does, however, mean that you will have a lot of downtime while playing Reforger. Not every area is going to be the frontline. Depending on the player count of the server you may have concentrations of fighting on a handful of key objectives at a time but since the maps are so large you will have quiet areas far from the fighting. This means you will probably have to find some enjoyment in the act of moving through the world. There is no mini-map so you won't always know exactly where you are. In order to get around in Reforger map knowledge will help. Think of it like learning a new town or city. You won't know exactly where you are or where you're going without help, until one day you have a comprehensive enough map in your head that you will know where you are and where you are going. While you're learning the maps that means you will need to use the in-game map, compass, and geographical and man-made landmarks to get around. You may find yourself in a jeep where you need to direct the driver where to go, since they cannot safely drive and check the map at the same time. Though you will find yourself walking a lot since vehicles obviously make a lot of noise. When you are walking you may notice just how nice the lighting is in-game, the sounds of birds and crunching sticks under your feet, the density of forests, the surprising amount of detail in the small places you find. In the Everon map wheat fields surround towns and villages. You'll use church towers as landmarks, you'll peer out onto streets in large towns from second story windows, any time a flock of birds are disturbed you'll wonder if an enemy is nearby, when you hear a helicopter coming towards you you'll wonder if it's a friendly but find cover just in case. You may find that it has been an hour and you haven't even fired your rifle. While that may sound boring to some you are rarely ever just sitting around waiting for something to happen. You are surveying an area, defending an objective, moving to and from places on the map, doing logistics runs. When action does come it is fast as you and enemies die quickly, so you'll be in cover and trying not to get shot. While Arma has respawns you start over with a basic loadout and getting back to where you were may take a not insignificant amount of time so there is incentive to not die, unlike a game like Call of Duty or Battlefield where you may not care and just respawn after acting recklessly because it may only take another 10-30 seconds to get back into the thick of things...and because those games are more arcady, fast paced action kind of games. I love Arma Reforger. It is a game unlike any other mainstream shooter out there. It makes me excited for Arma 4 and what it will improve upon from Reforger.
Waste of time - if you value yours. The game itself looks promising if you search for milsim fun. However there are issues... - official servers are tiny (giant map for 48 players) - vanilla community servers for 128 players are either GER, RU or FR (where you constantly hear just foreign language) - server browser lack information about server settings (like third person camera for vehicles) - you need to wait in qeueues for 15 minutes before you can try a server - after a while you realise most of them run some old game mode without the fun roles you heard about (you realise difference between conflict and HQ Commander Conflict) Only alternative are community modded servers. With their own set of issues: - each of them run like hundreds of mods so you dont know what you get yourself into, untill you download 50gbs of mods, then wait 15 minutes in the queue, and only then can see if server runs settings you like or hate (like disabled features, disabled friendly fire, or other weird modifications) Im done. I wont spend each evening in search of a golden grail in form of server i like, when devs just dont give a flying duck about my time. Sadly im propably outside of refund time window.
good

Played 1000s of hours on PS5, this game made me get a pc, Even with the the wait times to join servers XD, its everything i could ask for, PC handles it so well! Highly recommend if your not into a game like COD where the "meta" is the best and only playstyle you should use. Arma comes down to playstyle and it can be fast paced or slow, completely up to the player. Roleplaying is great and the navigation system for the huge maps is perfect. My fav game by far.
Game is great! HOWEVER it does lag a lot but if you can look past it. Its great
