Come on man, this could be so GREAT! Get this game the love it deserves. A modern day magic carpet game has so much potential!
Смысл? bought this years and years ago and it will be years and years more before they get this into a playable state.
A complete and utter Failure to Launch. First introduced back in Jan 2014, the game seemed like it had promise to re-deliver on one of the all-time great series: Magic Carpet 1 & 2. The developer seemed to have a vision that mirrored the gameplay and style of the originals, which truly were stunning for their time. Ten years pass, and the game is still barely an Alpha. And a hugely incomplete Alpha at that - most systems aren't working, or even in the game. There is barely any content to partake of. And when asked about development progress or dates, the excuse comes back about "real life getting in the way". It's been a broken record for 10 years now, while the game remains up on Steam. Honestly, it's projects like this that give Early Access a bad name, and re-label it Cash Grab. Intentions don't matter where the developer is concerned; delivery does. I've seen just one game on Steam in my ~19 years here that did as poorly: The Dead Linger. But even that was playable and simply went through a failed engine upgrade, after which it was abandoned due to funding. This one never really took off - it's like a plane without an engine, or wings, or wheels, or instruments. I've given up on ever seeing it, and we know Valve can't refund all the purchases made since it's gone to the developer (never to be seen again). Save your money and avoid the grief of purchasing a title which will never see the light of day.
I got this in some bundle forever ago and occasionally came back to check in on it. It's now 2023, almost a decade since its release, and I can finally say...do not bother. The good: There's kind of a cool aesthetic, and it's mildly fun to fly around. The new agey music is rather cool. The bad: There's just not enough there, there. It's like an alpha build proof of concept with no story, no lore and no point. The magic attacks don't feel like they have any weight behind them. The sound effects are sometimes cool, but for a game that gives audio cues to know when things are going on, there's very little clue as to where said sounds are coming from. Sloppy. Verdict: If you had like a 5 year old kid and this were like $1, I might get it for him to jank around in. But $10 for an abandoned non-game? Hard pass. Stay far, far away from this.
Played this game back in 2014. Glad to see it never got out of early access because I'm afraid of it getting into the hands of the unwashed masses. Super confusing and no clear direction. It's like if you took DMT and went hiking. 6/10
Game have some similarities to Magic Carpet for DOS, PS1, Saturn but it feels unfinished. Use different spells, can assign two at the same time and cast them using mana which replenish over time. Player can affect terrain and make hills and such but it's a bit unpolished. Raise castles, throw fireballs at enemies or cast lightning, there's plenty of spells to gather. Explore RNG world and conquer enemies, their structures and fight with flying serpent like monsters. No sound in game. Early access title with nice premise but bad execution.
