Arcadie: Second-Born

Good points: - Easy to read - Lots of choice even if it doesn't impact the ending much - Steamy romance well developed with two different characters. - Interesting plot hook about being born in a family of tyrants that have powers and the consequences of that. Cons: - The story feels a bit incomplete, I mean yes, there's a second game but the ending of this book was underwhelming I hoped the conflict would be more impactful and longer, use more strategy, magic or force. - Idk if it's because of the lore but Cy feels like a blank page sometimes, he is just nice, there's nothing there but being rich and nice. Idk what the hell he wants, why is he working there if his family is so filthy rich? - I feel like the protagonist skills are a bit underused besides the beginning. Overall I would recommend only if you feel like buying and reading a second book as well, it does not feel like a standalone, I would also encorage you to read it more as a romantasy book, it will not delve much on the trauma, ptsd or topics that usually goes along war.

还不错的一个故事，很经典的中世纪王子/公主冒险记[spoiler]复仇记[/spoiler]。情节算不上特别新颖，但作者写得很好，很会调动情绪。 人物描写方面我觉得做的很好，没有非黑即白的角色，每个人都是多面复杂的都有自己的动机和立场，分不出绝对的对错。对于反派我个人就经历了惋惜→愧疚感减轻→想手撕ta→讨厌但理解ta的起伏...还有一个和主角对着干的贵族议会成员，一开始很烦他嘴臭，到后面内心感情也有点复杂... 至于RO方面，作者情感描写很细腻，我这离谱的游戏时长就是在各种细节里抠糖的过程中攒出来的...如果你是忠犬型人物爱好者，那其中一个RO应该会很合你口味。 [spoiler]凶神恶煞的棕毛忠犬和戴着优雅从容面具的金毛狐狸...到底谁说cyril适合犬塑的哈哈，明明真正的狗男另有其人...你说是吧will...不得不说will这条线我太喜欢了，从一开始一直憋着一口气，双方都在边缘疯狂试探，到舞会跳舞彻底爆发。“Dance with me”这句话一出来给我整激动了，虽然很老土但没错我就是想看这种情节口牙！MC你和will一定要幸福啊（抹泪）[/spoiler] 美中不足的是最后结尾有点仓促，也许是系列还有第二部的缘故吧。期待能早日玩到Arcadie2！出必买！[spoiler]非常想看看stan这个理想主义的疯批在第二部到底能帮上主角啥...[/spoiler]

Lots of interesting choices, lots of twists and turns, good romance. Will play again!

The relationships with Will and Cyril are the strength of Arcadie. The development of the relationships with each (on their respective paths) is very well written and brilliantly paced. Some of the best relationship development I've read in an IF story. The world and lore of Arcadie is not uninteresting but there is not enough here to really grab you. I wish there was more of the world and its lore, I wish there was more time spent with your family at the start, and I wish there was time spent on the politics of the world. We can take a peaceful or militaristic approach, but from what's presented we've no idea if Stan's grievances are justified, i.e., is Arcadie as war mongering as he claims? I wish it was longer but that's because I enjoyed it so much and wanted more. The ending also felt abrupt. I know there is the sequel coming, but it could have done with a least a couple of additional pages in the Epilogue to give a more satisfying conclusion.
