About

Aquamarine is a turn-based playable comic book about surviving in an alien ocean.
Inspired by the psychedelic sci-fi of the '70s & '80s, Aquamarine combines the mystery of old-school adventure games and challenging roguelikes with elements of survival, exploration, and puzzle solving.

Journey across a water world reclaimed by nature. Overcome survival and navigational challenges as you discover the planet's lost history. Master your pod's controls, study the ocean wildlife, and solve environmental puzzles to help you find your way home.

Cultivate a variety of alien plants with unique attributes. Forage the depths for food and salvage tools to help you survive. Collect and craft powerful upgrades for your humble escape pod, and customize your loadout to fit the needs of every plunge into the water.

You play as a lone space traveler known only as The Seeker. While orbiting an uncharted aquaplanet, your starcraft is disrupted by a strange signal and you're forced to eject. You crash land on a tiny island surrounded by an endless alien ocean, with nothing to help you but an amphibious survival pod. Throughout your underwater journey to reach your crashed ship, you'll uncover the planet's lost history and discover the true nature of why The Seeker ended up here.

Aquamarine is rather short but meditative and beautiful - especially if you like Moebius style. The world isn't too complex and rather easy to successfully navigate once you got the hang of it. So don't expect a Subnautica level of focus on exploration and survival, you're here for atmosphere, story and relaxingly experiencing a world with an characteristic art style!
The gameplay is meditative and immersive, and as many others note, the artwork and sound design/score is impeccable. The random events are great and I love the dreamy, psychedelic tone to everything. Definitely worth picking up for the depth of the world-building. I would compare playing it to tending a zen garden, or a scavenger hunt on mushrooms.
Really cool looking game that makes for a uniquely relaxing experience, while still offering a challenge. The survival mechanics are strong, and mix together well with the roguelike exploration and puzzle solving. If you're into slow-paced games you can take your time thinking about, you'll probably dig this too
A surprising mix of adventure and survival. Beautiful art, nice calm atmosphere, ruddy mysterious. The game doesn't exactly hold your hand, there are some rather obtuse things you have to figure out in order to proceed. Can be a bit clunky, and had a few annoying bugs when I played it. Still, very much worth a playthrough.
I've played this again since the major update and I'm happy to report it was a much smoother journey this time around. The art-style is still as pretty as I remember but thankfully now the stability is also where it needs to be (I still had one crash to desktop and one occasion where an upgrade Item seemed to duplicate and get stuck in my inventory) Also the new lower difficultly levels make for a less frustrating less stress-full experience. I have no problem recommending this game now. Kudos to the developers. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW Nice art-style, cool concept, there were parts I really enjoyed and I can see the game has alot of potential but currently bugs make this an incredibly frustrating experience. I wish the developer well, they seem passionate about fixing the issues and my understanding it's a single developer so that will take time. I hope to one day change this review to positive. Here are some of the problems I experienced - The UI frequently locks up requiring exits to the main menu. - The entire game frequently locks up required the process to be killed from task manager. - The is an ability for transferring energy to charge the (lets call it the main engine) and sometimes the process will malfunction the end result being the engine is not charged and the energy transferred is lost. To give the developer the benifit of doubt I recall this happeningly mainly in one area so maybe this was intentional and there was some mechanic I was not understanding. - There is a ability in game to fit a mod that regenerates energy and hull and I think I may have saw it work once but otherwise its completely useless and does nothing. - A bedroll disappeared from my camp. I did not have a shelter in the camp to cover the bedroll so maybe this is by design but I think that is unfair In my opinion. - Food disappeared from my inventory Despite all of this I still wanted to finish the game but the 3rd stage has you navigate in pitch darkness and its incredible frustrating. Still I persevered, I had reached what I believe is the final stage of the game, I returned to camp and then as I was leaving the game decided it had enough; it popped up a message about planting a garden which I had done hours ago and then kicked me out to the main menu and deleted my save. I suppose again to give the developer the benifit of doubt it might have been that I actually had run out of food, I don't believe this was the case, I recall topping up recently enough but I was moving around in the dark levels for quite awhile and not concentrating on the food meter so it's possibly. Regardless permadeath seems a bit extream a consequence. One Final thing to add, there are several posts in the forms about the locking up issues and the devs keep telling people to go to discord. I appreciate the dev maybe have there own preferred tools but the game is played on Steam and so should be supported through steam. The steam discussion board is where you go to see if someone had the same problem as you and how they resovled it so its not helpful to others when the discussion and solutions are moved away from there.

I’m enjoying the game so far but every so often the clouds will completely obscure the screen and I can’t see anything. Idk if there’s something I am missing or what, but I’m 3 hours in and can’t do anything until the clouds move off…
Beautiful art and awesome vibe. The world really comes to life. If you like the art style and are up for a chill time, I'd recommend the game.
it keeps you playing
