In this game you play as a god, with the goal being to convert the majority of the world's population. Working against conversion is scepticism, which you have to keep low. Scepticism is gained via event or failed miracles/curses. You use faith to develop miracles or curses and then you gain more faith by using those to maximum effect. Each country has effects applied to it which represent its state - hard-done-by countries respond better to miracles, for example. It's a neat little system, though there is a fair bit of RNG which might put some people off (I didn't mind it). You can develop your deity's attributes to grant more success in events and in casting your miracles/curses. All in all, it's a good idea and I like the game. The price seems about right to me.
Played it didn't like it.
It's too easy and becomes a clicker very fast.
The game is pretty manageable overall. Every choice has a consequence. It has a slow start but eventually the pace goes up. I am not really sure how the penalty of the choice I made during pop-up events was determined because I got multiple +x% skepticism in a row. Perhaps, my conversion rate was high so the game tried to give me more challenges, I am not sure. Eventually, I had to go with whatever choices with the lowest skepticism penalty. Overall, it is a good game with a good price.
THIS IS A REVIEW THAT WAS EDITED AFTER A RECENT PATCH I'm really glad that the developers listened to us and adjusted the frustrating aspects of the game. The tutorial is more informative now, the events and the skepticism progression feels more fair and the game on the whole is just way more fun. If you've tried it before and wasn't really satisfied, do give it another shot. The game would be even better with more features and mechanics, but even its current state merits playing it for at least some time. Carry on, dev dudes!
Definitely worth the buy for the price. A lot of fun, starts off a little slow each game, but some funny/and/or informative information scrolling across the bottom and pop ups keeps the slow beginning interesting. By end of each game (each game can be completed in half and hour to an hour, but with definite replay value!) it's fast moving and keeps you involved. Worth the low price, can go back to it multiple times.
So... I was very excited when I found this game. Not only because it's exactly the kind of game I was looking for, but also because the price was so reasonable. I just finished my first play-through and I did really enjoy it although I do have some comments & concerns about gameplay. I saw before purchasing that a lot of people insisted this game needed some kind of tutorial & that has been fixed, I found the tutorial to be super helpful. I do agree with another commenter though that a guided-victory tutorial (rather than a show & tell tutorial) would be much more beneficial. I did have to lose the game twice before I realized how to properly strategize with the available faith. After I figured out exactly what I was doing, it was much more enjoyable. It would be GREAT if the abilities tab was bigger or if you could just select abilities from the drawer, rather than having to drag them into the main panel. I would also love it if it was possible to continue playing after winning the game. Yes, all objectives have been met by the time you win, but I would still love to be able to completely conquer the map even if there is no added benefit to doing so. I'd also love to see some tiered advancement. For example "Win as [someone], unlock [something], Start with [country], unlock [something], etc.". Just something to motivate further playing since once you've run through all the Gods, you're just playing the same game over again. Just a note, not a huge deal. All in all, this is a fantastic game & I'm excited I found it. It was a little difficult getting in because, like I said, the tutorial was a good guide but not super helpful in actual gameplay, but once you figure it out it's a great way to kill some time.
