Isometric card battler RPG with a touch of virtual creatures, set in a futuristic, digital world, with over-the-top villains and a very shadowy plot.

About
Anode Heart: Layer Null is a side-game spinoff to the monster tamer game of Anode Heart. This game focuses on the vastly expanded card game combat, deckbuilding and becoming the No. 1 card master on the Server.

You play as Blank, a new player in the Duel Server, an in-between Layer of the Systems where everything is decided by Card Games. As you rise through the Server Ranks, you will start encountering the Shadowed, members of a mysterious organization with an unknown, but most probably evil goal.
[ ! ] There are reoccurring characters and references to the first Anode Heart installment, but it's not necessary to know them in order to enjoy this game.

Game features:
* Unique card battling system
* Local (and direct connection) PvP
* 500+ cards to collect and play with
* 12 unique levels and card bosses
* New story and characters
* Tama monster DNA collection
* an Isometric Gameboy/PSX vibe
Card game minigame from Anode Heart is now expanded into its own game, with 10 new booster packs, re-balanced card sets and refurbished rules and mechanics. There are card bosses and Tama you can fight through the card game, and a tournament ranking style system.

This is the second game in the Anode Heart universe, serving as a bridge to the Sequel that will take place on the far side of Zearth, after the ending of the first game. [Layer Null] is set in a new Layer, with focus now entirely on the card game and a new plot surrounding it. There's a new cast of characters, but you may recognize a few familiar faces and names. I've carried over the lessons I learned through the release of my first game, so whether you're new to the A:H universe or a Virtual-slaying Veteran, I hope you'll enjoy this one as well!

Good card game with alot of different builds.
Using The card game to make its own game, is incredibly fun and i loved the game, i just wish there was more of it, but i highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the card battles from digimon world 2003 it is awesome
死者蘇生が強かった頃の遊戯王の面白さと無効連打されて何もできない現代遊戯王のクソさの両方をクリアまでに体験できます とりあえずデッキ破壊はやめろ
Fantastic game - 100% deserves a bigger audience. Remember pokemon TCG for the gameboy color? It's like a modern take on that updated for the times. If you're the type of person who played the Witcher 3 and ended up trying to play more Gwent than the game itself, you 100% should get this game.
_Incredible_ card game, one of the best on steam IMO. There's tons of space to experiment and theorycraft, and every zone introduces a new set of cards with new archetypes to play around with. Later enemies typically have some kind of gimmick, and figuring out how to counter their strategies is super satisfying. I just rolled credits and haven't started on postgame content yet, but Layer Null is absolutely worth the price. Visuals are good, and (most importantly) the cards are all easy to recognize at a glance. Story is nothing to write home about, and presumably makes more sense if you've played the original game(s)? IDK, it's not really the main attraction.
Remember all those yugioh rpg tcg games on old Nintendo handhelds? It’s very much like that in game structure. I am loving it and hope to see more games like this released.
Very fun game mechanics. Just needs a touch of polish on the gamepad controls.
i uninstalled it twice before the third time the rules of the game clicked with me. then it sneakily ate a lot of my time. a lot of it was attempting to bruteforce one battle or another with a bad deck and seeing odds, adjusting a few cards at a time. fun to field test decks. some parts of the game walled me pretty hard. there's a few qol things that could be improved in terms of sorting and searching in deckbuilding, but for the most part it's up top for clarity. and the entire game can be played with a mouse, huge plus for casual. obviously lots of build options given the nature of this type of game. fit what i was looking for as a closed-set tcg game. definitely worth it if you like card games and collection. not yet finished with all the content yet but just hitting the endgame it's been a good ride.
