One of the best horror story games i've ever played. I love it and want more. The manga of it also is really good!

Angels of Death is a psychological horror adventure developed by Makoto Sanada and Vaka Game Magazine, with publishing handled by Vaka Game Magazine. While it is built using RPG Maker, the game quickly proves that memorable storytelling and compelling atmosphere can leave a stronger impression than technical sophistication. Rather than emphasizing combat or elaborate gameplay systems, it invites players into a disturbing narrative centered on survival, trust, and the hidden truths buried within a mysterious multi-level building. Every descent into a new floor introduces fresh dangers and unsettling personalities, creating an experience that steadily builds tension through suspense instead of relying on constant scares. The story follows Rachel Gardner, a young girl who awakens in the unfamiliar basement of a strange building with no clear explanation of how she arrived. Her only hope of escape comes after encountering Zack, a violent man armed with a massive scythe whose unpredictable personality makes him as frightening as the environment itself. Their unusual agreement becomes the emotional core of the game, as both characters gradually reveal pieces of their troubled pasts while navigating increasingly dangerous floors. The relationship evolves in believable ways, avoiding simple hero-and-sidekick conventions in favor of a partnership driven by desperation, fragile trust, and shared promises. The narrative continuously raises questions about morality, redemption, trauma, and human nature, encouraging players to keep moving forward not simply to escape, but to uncover the truth behind every character's existence. Exploration and puzzle-solving make up the majority of the gameplay, with players searching rooms, collecting useful items, deciphering clues, and unlocking paths to progress. Each floor functions almost like its own self-contained chapter, complete with distinct environmental themes and twisted caretakers whose personalities influence the challenges they create. The puzzles strike a comfortable balance by remaining logical without becoming overly complicated, allowing the mystery to remain the primary focus. Intermittent chase sequences inject moments of panic that contrast well with the slower investigative pace, forcing players to react quickly before returning to careful exploration. Although the mechanics remain relatively simple from beginning to end, they consistently support the game's narrative instead of distracting from it. Atmosphere is one of the game's greatest accomplishments. Despite the modest visual style associated with RPG Maker titles, every location is designed with purpose, creating an unsettling world filled with decaying hallways, disturbing decorations, and environments that reflect the minds of the individuals who inhabit them. Character portraits provide expressive emotional depth during conversations, making the dialogue far more impactful than the simple character sprites alone could achieve. The sound design further strengthens the experience with eerie ambient effects, restrained musical pieces, and long stretches of silence that heighten suspense. Instead of overwhelming players with frequent jump scares, the game creates lasting discomfort through uncertainty, psychological tension, and the disturbing personalities encountered throughout the journey. The game is not without flaws. Players looking for deep gameplay systems or action-heavy horror may find the experience somewhat limited, as most of the challenge comes from solving puzzles and advancing the narrative. Movement and interactions reflect the limitations of the engine, while occasional backtracking and trial-and-error chase sequences can briefly interrupt the pacing. Some story developments also lean heavily into symbolism and emotional interpretation, which may resonate differently depending on the player. Even so, these shortcomings rarely diminish the overall impact because the game's strongest qualities lie in its memorable writing, carefully developed characters, and consistently oppressive atmosphere. What ultimately makes Angels of Death stand out is its ability to transform a relatively straightforward adventure into a psychologically engaging experience that lingers well after the ending. Every floor contributes another layer to the mystery while expanding the emotional complexity of its cast, ensuring that the journey remains compelling from beginning to end. It successfully blends horror, mystery, and character drama into a cohesive narrative that rewards players willing to immerse themselves in its unsettling world. Fans of story-driven horror games, escape-style puzzles, and emotionally charged adventures will find a memorable experience that demonstrates how strong writing and atmosphere can overcome technical limitations. It remains one of the more distinctive narrative horror titles available on Steam and a worthwhile experience for anyone seeking a suspenseful adventure with lasting emotional impact. Rating: 9/10

그러니까 말했잖냐... 이 게임에 추천을 누르는 건... '나'라고
The first game I had ever played on STEAM and also my favorite story ever. Ray and Zack's relationship is quite peculiar and it still moves me greatly when coming to think of it, even though it has been a year since I last played it. Getting killed by Zack for a hundred times in Episode 1 made me quite distressed, and I feel glad that after persistently trying over and over again, I managed to escape from Zack and continue the story, which eventually proved my efforts worthwhile. Episode 4 is definitely my favorite, for it strangely comforts me, and I believe I could play it a dozen times more.
