I got this game from the dev a hot minute ago but I haven't been able to really play games for months. So this review is a bit delayed. Works out a bit though considering several parts of this game have been released since I got the title. Right now as I write this the game has 7 games in it. If I remember right the dev had planned on releasing a new game into the collection every month for the duration of 2022. However they only released June and July this month, but they are still labelled for those months. So I'm assuming the dev is still planning on adding 5 more games to the title. I'm gonna go through each one, there's not a ton to say about each as they are all fairly small games. 1) Brave Little Cat is a 3D platformer that goes from full 3D to side scrolling from level to level. The design is cute and the gameplay simple. Just jump, get purple diamonds, orbs, and make it to the end. Each level has fires as check points, use all 3 lives and start the level over. I haven't play all the levels, but did get pretty far. I particularly liked the space levels. The only cons to this one is that it took A WHILE to get used to the jump because you jump so damn high. There also may be a bug with the level selection as I closed out the game, came back, and went to select the last level I was in. The level I had been trying to beat was gone and replaced with a level I hadn't even seen yet. 2) Brave Little Bear is a top down fighting game. I don't have a lot to say about this one as I didn't really play it. Top downs aren't really my thing. However the design is clean and it ran smooth. This is when I noticed that assets seem to be being used across more than one of the games. Which isn't bad till it becomes over abundant when the games are supposed to be different. 3) Brave Little Dragon was one I was looking forward to as it's a racing game where you fly through hoops for points. It seems there are 3 races. The game looks cute. Unfortunately once again I can't say much about the game. This time though because it was just way to difficult to control. I wish there was a mouse sensitivity for the game so that you could have better control over the camera. I also don't like the shift to fly button. Personally I'd prefer space. 4) Brave Little Pilot is a good one. It's a 3rd person space craft shooter. Move across a bunch of platforms to dodge and shoot in coming enemy ships. Very simple and straight forward. I have no issues with this one other than for some reason it launched my Steam VR. 5) Brave Little Moon Rover was good for a second. It's a side scrolling endless runner where you are a moon rover. Shoot and jump over obstacles to gain points. It took me a second, but once I got the hang of it was easy. Then I ran into an issue where the controls became unresponsive. I was right clicking to use my front gun and it wasn't shooting. Other than that, it ran fine. 6) Brave Little Lizard is another endless runner, but the kind with no controls other than to move left or right and faces forward rather than side scrolling. There seems to be a slight tug where when I'm moving to the left I will move a bit back towards the right for no reason, but it doesn't seem to mess with game play all that much. 7) Shifty Goblin is once again an endless runner, but another side scroller. I think of the endless runners this one is my favorite. You jump to either a blue or green platform. Double jumping over the grey ones. As you jump you change the colors of your goblin to match the rock or die. This is also the first one that I think had the controls displayed as you start the game rather than having a separate menu for it. Conclusion? For the buck the dev has it listed for I'd say grab it. If the price ever changes, as the game currently is, I think I'd pay around $3. Not because there aren't 12 games yet. Because of the occasional bug, the fact that most of the games are reusing assets and feel less distinct from each other, and a few control issues. There's a few games in here that I quite enjoyed. Frankly the Cat one is worth the buck on it's own to me. However I also enjoyed all the endless runners and the Brave Little Pilot. I'll try to update my review as more games come out and other possible changes are made. For now, at the price, I recommend. Could also be a fun way to introduce various game genres to kids. Edit: Also I think my play time is off. I might be wrong here? But I think when you launch some of the games it doesn't track your time played.
It's a good collection for a dollar. Don't expect big storylines though or anything like that.
