It's pretty decent in a gameplay sense, sadly none of the scares work. The tense atmosphere disappears the moment you encounter the goofy monster, which is actually pretty fun to toy with. Not recommended if u are looking for a scary horror game, but a fun one it sure is.

Its good, but the light mechanic on higher difficulties is just not fun. I don't want to have to spam my flashlight button just to be able to see. Its not interesting, scary, or fun, its obnoxious.

this game is dark descent game design done right. instead of puzzles that result in "spooky monster pops in for 10 seconds to remind you, 'you can die in this game'", you get: the monster is the puzzle. every area of the game is fairly straight forward to understand what you have to accomplish, it's not really puzzle-ish, BUT everything that you have to do will bring the monster upon you and you'll have to figure out what you're gonna do before hand. it's not EXACTLY that arbitrary, but that's the broad strokes. the moments where the monster acts unpredictably and catches you out and you're in the pitch black trying to make out the silhouette... those happen and they are very special. You should play on hard, normal is a bit too much of a frolic through the bunker. as for the atmosphere, it's slightly flat. it's not castle brennenburg, it's WW1. if you're playing a horror game to explore some extravagant setting, i don't think this is the right game for you. if you're a WAR FREAK!!! yeah, sure, this is decent stuff, and you have a good web of plot to figure out in the notes left around. the set pieces for the last act are super memorable, endings are fairly softball but they're fun to think about. (don't think this is some crazy expansive endings situation, it's like dark descent, actually, quite a bit weaker.) i'm of the opinion that the bar for capital H Horror games is so incredibly low, that this game is honestly spectacular. i don't think it's a CERTIFIED GEM MASTERPIECE (i guess that's what people describe literally anything of actual quality in the horror space), but damn, it's pretty good.
