A very underrated game on sale My main issues are the FPS drops when you interact with the notes. You have to switch in and out several times to get the FPS back to normal. I had to edit the config file to get a good FOV but thats also an issue with the first amnesia game and nobody seems to mind. The story is great and worth a second play through which makes its length not really an issue. It does strip back the stealth, puzzle and insanity systems from the first game but I did not mind as I found the sanity system annoying and overly reliant on post processing effects to be scary.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

first enemy in the game got stuck on nothing so i jumped over it and took no damage
So... where do I start? Beautiful, but I have mixed feelings I can recommend this for reasons far from the usual criteria First this is NOT a game, whereas the title mentions game is more like an interactive novel and even interactive can be a little far off, but for the sake of simplicity I'll continue to call it a "game" The game has a beautiful artistic design, every single area feels like it could be real, that's what I loved about it, not like an intrinsic and weird maze that doesn't make sense like in most horror games The story it's incredible but as I said this "game" is more like a novel, and as such, you only get to go in certain directions, it would have been great if the game allowed for more pathing and allowing you to learn a few more details which leads to some problems It's a little ambiguous, very little is touched about certain events that lead to the whole development of the story, and it could be further expanded as a DLC, but this on itself feels like one from Dark Descent UNBELIEVABLY SHORT, just as I mentioned, the game feels like it's very VERY short, for the record I'm a working adult that as of now I have on weekdays 1 to 2 hours to play and one of those I use it to do chores so for the average player it would feel like a snack and for the hardcore ones not even an entree. I do recommend this game if, like myself, have very little time to play at certain seasons and want to have a little interactive novel or something to kill time between shifts, it does make sense why a lot of people didn't like this game, it would be easily seen as a DLC or even a Mod from the Workshop for Amnesia Dark Descent, but If you like to appreciate little love projects then this game is just for you
rather short, but beautiful story
A Machine for Pigs suffers in the shadow of The Dark Descent, but if you can look past that its a decent story to spend 5 hours experiencing. The gameplay is shallower and the game boils down to a horror themed walking sim with very few puzzles and set pieces to break out of that. Given this started out as a small mod that turned into an actual entry I don't actually have much malice towards the game being so bare bones. It is actually cool that Frictional let someone else expand their IP and I feel like the game comes from a good place even if the results aren't stellar. The highlight is the story and the main antagonist which has so many interesting elements and layers that I think can hold your attention for the game's 5 hour runtime. It definitely is worth a play through but not much past that. 20 dollars is too much and I would really only recommend it on a heavy discount. If it is, however, I think you will really like it if you were invested in the lore of the series or just want a unique horror story.
It is a controversial game given its departure from the gameplay of The Dark Descent in favor of something more cinematic and fully story driven. Everything you do in the game boils down into its themes just as with the Dark Descent, however unlike The Dark Descent every nearly everywhere you go feels like a set piece with meaning. All in support of an amazing story with an incredibly well done twist and powerful themes. It is difficult to discuss the game beyond this without spoiling anything.
