Main Game: The Level design is a 10/10. I never expirienced smart designed maps like this in a shooter. Every Level looks different, has a different Art style and is a fun expirience. The Weapons are cool and fun to use. The game is a bit easy on medium difficulty. The last two Levels are a bit out of touch with the rest of the game: The Level "The Forges" is a lot harder than the rest of the game, i died a lot there. And the last Level is way too weird in Level design, too much weird stuff is going on there for my taste. Upgate: I just finished the DLC "the Black Labyrint" - great map design, every second of the Levels is interesting and fun. The shieldguys are annoying, but they still have their place in this game - 10/10. The game is overall a very chill and easy expirience. Everything is done right here. No annoying last levels like in the base game. The DLC is short but good.
Recommended (with caveats) AMID EVIL is a decent retro shooter, but it has some highs and lows. The Good: Nailed the retro aesthetic perfectly. The final set of levels is incredibly unique, creative, and well-designed. The Bad: Level layouts can feel a bit too maze-like and confusing at times. The combat gets repetitive and loses its steam over time. Encountered a recurring glitch where I'd fall straight through moving elevator floors, costing me progress. Motion Sickness Warning: Even with the FOV adjusted and head bobbing disabled, this game triggered some bad motion sickness for me. If you are sensitive to this, buy with caution. Verdict: Worth a playthrough if you love the genre, just be prepared for a few frustrating quirks.
