It's always those games that call themselves fast-paced and blast heavy metal music at you, but your character runs like they're on the moon and switch weapons and fire them like a geriatric. Don't get me wrong the bunnyhopping is pretty good, and you can pick up some ludicrous speed going horizontally. It's just.. everything else. Blasting endless discount Portal 2 enemies in square rooms ain't my kinda vibe, the game needs some work, after which it could definitely become a fantastic shooter.
RETOOLED is a game that promises fast-paced action, intense combat, and a storyline centered around battling a rogue AI and waves of relentless robots. As someone who typically enjoys shooters, I delved into this game with high hopes. However, there were certain aspects of RETOOLED that left me feeling somewhat divided. The gameplay in RETOOLED is undeniably intense. It plunges you headfirst into a world where your agility and adaptability are your best allies. Bunnyhopping your way through the game feels exhilarating, and the game is designed to keep you on your toes. The continuous expansion of your arsenal keeps things fresh and ensures you have a variety of tools at your disposal to deal with the challenges that lie ahead. Pros: Fast-Paced Action: RETOOLED delivers on its promise of high-speed, fluid movement shooting. The game keeps you engaged, and there's a satisfying sense of momentum as you progress through the levels. Diverse Enemy Lineup: The enemy variety is very good. Each enemy class reacts to your actions differently, adding an element of unpredictability and challenge to the gameplay. Sense of Accomplishment: If you manage to conquer the game's challenges, it certainly provides a gratifying sense of accomplishment. RETOOLED is not for the faint-hearted, and successfully overcoming its obstacles is rewarding. Cons: Restarting from the Beginning: My biggest gripe with RETOOLED is the requirement to restart from the beginning upon death. This can be particularly frustrating during tough encounters, as it feels like you're penalized heavily for making mistakes. A checkpoint system or more forgiving respawn mechanics would have been welcome. Timed Platforming Challenges: Another aspect that didn't sit well with me was the inclusion of timed platforming challenges. While some players may enjoy these, they can be a source of frustration. Conclusion: RETOOLED is a game that packs a punch in terms of fast-paced shooting action, enemy variety, and a satisfying arsenal of weapons and abilities. It's a title that will truly test your skills. However, the requirement to restart from scratch upon death and the inclusion of timed platforming challenges might be a turn-off for some players. If you're willing to endure these frustrations in exchange for an intense shooter experience and the feeling of triumphing over adversity, then RETOOLED is worth a shot. But if you're not a fan of such mechanics, be prepared for some moments of frustration amidst the action-packed chaos. Check out my full game walkthrough!: https://youtu.be/eaivUfkirHo
Really fun game with tight movement mechanics that feel responsive and fun to use, weapons that are satisfying to use, and a lot of varied enemies that challenge you and force you to use core mechanics in different ways. The art and audio is clean and polished, and the overall presentation is really well executed! The soundtrack is a real banger as well which is one of the most important things to nail in this kind of game.
Definitely worth a try. Enjoyable and a challenge in the after the early levels for sure.
Это вторая игра
не считая кваки, естественно
после https://steamcommunity.com/app/1274450
R.I.P. Bear Party
Let's start by saying that the fact this game isn't popular and widely played is a blasphemy. With that being said, I consider this game almost a masterpiece. "Retooled" is an amazing indie FPS that encourages (almost forces) you to use all your different abilities and guns to survive. This game isn't easy and if you play however you want, you're going to die badly. Every weapon has its own functionality, and as you progress, you begin to find synergies between guns and abilities, discovering useful strategies / tactics. Additionally, every enemy has its own weaknesses, which further incentivizes the use of different weapons. There are two ways to gather resources: picking them up scattered throughout the arena or actively recovering them, similar to Doom Eternal's chainsaw / glory kills. Some weapons increase the probability of enemies dropping either health or armor pickups. Additionally, you can replenish plasma ammo by continuously firing the minigun and staying on the move, which brings me to bunnyhopping. Bunnyhopping in this game is extremely satisfying and reminded me a lot of "Dusk." The game may seem slow at the beginning, but once you learn how to move, you'll find that you can play at a decent fast pace. There are challenges to complete and collectibles to get, as well as an additional game mode where you fight hordes of enemies, which I haven't beaten yet but will, further increasing replay value. On the "negative" side of things, I'd like to discuss three points: 1) While the occasional time trials are incredibly useful for teaching players how to move in the game, they could become an issue on repeated playthroughs. I think they should be optional after the 1st one. 2) The final boss needs to be easier, at least on easy / normal difficulty. Despite my FPS experience and rarely dying in the game, the final boss felt unfair. The lack of information regarding its final weak point could be addressed (maybe the robot that helps you from the beginning could provide a hint or information). Adding pickups around the arena and nerfing its damage or reducing the number of strong enemies could also help. Hard mode could be like it is now. Huge thanks to @1mbalanced to help me defeating it. 3) The game needs more map variety and different looking enemies. Even though they are all robots and have their differences (how they attack and their weak points), more diversity would be appreciated. Despite these points, I want to give my full support to this game. I highly recommend it and might even create guides for it. I have immense respect for the developer: this is his first game, and he made it alone, which is incredibly impressive. Thank you!!
Retooled is a finely crafted and visually beautiful Sci-Fi Robot Shooter! Retooled is a game of coolness and imagination set in a bright but cold cybernetic dystopia. Retooled is an adventure of action and skill! It's really fun! Playing Retooled makes me wanna come back to beat the next stage. Every level and area is a challenge that makes you fight hard to win! It's a cool game, and top quality from a solo developer. Check it out and blast some bots, it awesome! :D
It's surprisingly intense and quite fun, plays like an indie version of Doom in the Wall-E universe.
Nice game, can be tough and takes a while to get the flow, but very good. Lots of options (controls, game and video options) and great performance. Some very interesting mechanics and synergies between weapons and equipment. Movement is key, not just for dodging attacks but also to recharge energy which powers the most useful weapons. It has a tough learning curve at first as so many different mechanics are thrown at you, even down to different weapons acquiring recharges and ammo in different ways. If you don't like bunny hopping, you will struggle with this, the base movement speed is intentionally slow. This requires the use of dashes, hops, rocket jumps and even melee which also boosts you forward slightly. Criminally overlooked game judging by the discussions and complete lack of guides. A real shame.
Have spent some hours playing this game, and i really enjoy it. Like the complete diffrent weapons and the bunny jumping. Especially using the "sniper" (number4) weapon in high speed is really satisfying. Also like the mix of thinking/figure out what to do and a straight out shooting game.
