Solid Boomer Shooter. Fun guns and different enough enemies on the maps. Think the level design was a bit confusing sometimes but still easy enough to figure out. Game length felt just about right but if you want more content, there is a free level DLC and another paid DLC. Definitely worth the pick up during a sale!
You will enjoy this game if you want to run through maps with beautifully retro and psychedelic graphics while using unique weapons to kill scary badass enemies in different ways. Bored of using your magic wand? Use your staff that throws exploding balls. Yeah, pretty much this game is awesome for running around and killing ♥♥♥♥ with dope visuals. There are some puzzle/maze elements but it's not much of a struggle to figure that out. It took me ~8 hours to play through the game on the easiest mode. Many times I could run through levels without ever dying but then sometimes I would get stuck in the same area over and over using manual saves and reloads to not lose my mind. The bosses are cool and whatever but not much of a challenge usually. AMID EVIL is a game that can be played while watching a podcast or talking on the phone. I look forward to the DLC going on sale in the future so I can play through that.
Decent boomer shooter with nice graphics, my only complaint is the jankness of the auto slaves at times and the level design of later levels. The more I played the more frustrating the game became for me.
I'm da king of the sevens realms baybee.
Love this game. It's like Quake if it fully embraced the medieval and magical aspects of Hexen/Heretic rather than the grungey and Lovecraftian side its mostly known for. No guns here; just axes, swords, staffs and magic (but just as gorey and brutal) - I've beaten 3 chapters so far and I have zero complaints. I'm kicking myself for not playing it until now. It's also very well optimized and can run at 144fps at max settings even on my potato of a gaming laptop.
game to faall asleep to
It looks fantastic and has so much variety in the different locales you'll visit and enemies you'll be fighting. The weapons are all cool and interesting, and the soundtrack is killer too (Andrew Hulshult always delivers.) But man... It's just not very fun to play. Something went very wrong with combat in this game. The weapons don't have enough punch to them and aren't satisfying to use, the enemies are all very boring to fight and don't create engaging dynamic combat situations and there's just no "flow" to engaging monsters like in a more competently designed game like Dusk. You've seen all the game has to offer after episode 1 when it comes to gameplay mechanics, and then there are six more of them to slog through. I played on the hardest difficulty and found the game to be incredibly easy because there's nothing to really challenge the player. All of the enemies are very rudimentary and samey in their attack patterns. A good boomer shooter makes sure each enemy is unique and creates its own niche in combat and challenges you in a different way. Then the fun comes from putting them all in the same room together and making the player deal with them all at the same time. It's so disappointing because there's clearly a lot of talent with the devs here, but they need to go back to the drawing board and study the classics a little harder when it comes to designing a game with solid movement and engaging combat that actually feels fun to play.
interesting but..... I did not love the level design
its alright, i got 0.8 hours on the game so far maybe ill change the review when i finish the game and (not) get the dlc. I'm a huge fan of Quake and the games but this kinda felt underwhelming at the start, cant judge it too fast though. Loved Dusk and Ultrakill so I hope this is as good
