This is an itch scratching game, more for those who prefer the Classic series than anything else. Even though there is double jumping and wall climbing, this isn't X or even Zero. You're slower, you can unlock a dash but it just makes your character move a little faster, nothing what like X/Zero can do. There's a shield which... I just don't really get. Bosses can break right through it, things you think it should block doesn't really, you can shoot down projectiles that it might be used for and outside of one, the basic humadroid enemies shots will just vanish after a short period, rendering them kinda powerless. It's a mechanic that feels like it was just pushed in there to reference Blues. The base game itself isn't that hard, especially when you get some power ups, most especially weapons. It gets really easy with all the upgrades, though I do wish I could disable some of them. Hover, for example, is nice, but using hover when trying to grab a ladder just doesn't work. You have to let go of the up button, then push it again to grab said ladder. For somebody with muscle memory of holding up when jumping to grab a ladder, this has caused multiple deaths. Hit boxes are a bit jank. Not for the weapons themselves, or even the enemies, but spikes. More than once I've jumped, only to suddenly die mid jump because the hit box of the spikes below just... said no, I die. Even though I was well above them. NG+ is where the game really starts and kind of fails. Being the hard mode, it gets some stuff right; more enemies in places, mixing up the stage specific enemies to show up in other stages, changes to stage layouts, more bosses showing up, but then it gets lazy with how you now just take triple damage and enemies take less damage. I don't like the whole "you take more damage and enemies take less" concept, even if it's mixed in with a number of positive changes. It's just lazy and bad design, it's not actually hard, just artificial. I should have to pass based on skill, not shooting things more and having to memorize patterns. There's a shop where you buy upgrades, using stuff you get from enemy drops, which includes being able to buy up to 3 full heals. They're more akin to E-Tanks than Sub Tanks, since they do not refill when enemies drop health, which is incredibly rare in the game. You can also change hair and suit color, which while it doesn't mean much, it's nice, and the images used for equipment upgrades actually reflect those color changes. There's also a custom mode where you can pick, albeit from a limited list, of different options to make your own character. This also includes gender, so you can have a male humadroid, instead of defaulting to the normal female Class-C. It's nothing major, but still, a nice touch. All in all, I enjoyed my time with the game, no matter how brief, and recommend it. Again, just don't go in expecting it to be an X or Zero game and you'll be fine. If you want that, then you should check out Super Alloy Ranger. Actually, play this and SAR, they're both great.
This was a very short and fun Mega Man lite sort of game. The music is lively, the sprites and artwork is gorgeous and there are multiple bosses to fight with half a dozen upgradable weapons. You can also play as your very own custom made character.
This is a fun Megaman-inspired game. Well worth it. If you've played Megaman X/Zero/ZX, you should enjoy this.
A short and good platformer if you like that kind of game. The story is funny without too many things to highlight and the gameplay is the same. The game have a good variety of guns and upgrades, the levels and endless mode are decent, and have a decent/good art design in general. The only problems are some issues with the controls (Especially when yo try to alternate between glide or do wall tricks), the practically useless shield (because you can't use it if you dont are in ground and totally still), and the optimization problem when are too much points in the screen (Its not really annoying in my opinion). Ignoring the previous issues, its a totally worth game to play. P.S. If try to beat it fast (Without all achievements), probably you will do it between 2 hours and an hour and a half, or even least.
Pretty good Mega Man inspired game.
7/10 While not the best megaman clone out there, the nice sprite work, techno soundtrack and authentic mm feel make it an enjoyable game despite a few hitches here and there. only major gripes i have are the few sections where you play as knock off zero aren't fun and the upgrade system makes early game feel grindy.
It's Megaman. Not a bad indie version, actually, but I personally don't like Megaman. If you do, worth checking out!
