Daphné is at a dead end. When she inherits her remote family estate in the French countryside, she also inherits a generational feud between her family, the Delatours, and the mighty Malterres. At the same time, Frank, the father of the child they lost, is back to patch things up, but Daphné must also juggle the insistent courtship of a new suitor, her work as a teacher in the local middle school, rumours of witchery attached to her name, and this mysterious condemned tower, in the center of her castle.

Along the Edge стала для меня одной из тех редких игр, которые не просто рассказывают историю, а заставляют прожить ее. Здесь нет картонных персонажей — каждый выглядит живым, со своими слабостями, мотивами и прошлым. Им веришь, им сопереживаешь, а кого-то искренне презираешь. Решения, которые приходится принимать по ходу игры, действительно заставляют задуматься. Особенно впечатлила мистика, которая не выглядит нарочитой или сказочно-нелепой. Наоборот, она очень тонко вплетена в реальность. До самого конца не покидает ощущение, что происходящее можно объяснить совпадениями, но в то же время — и чем-то действительно необъяснимым. Именно эта неопределенность создает особую атмосферу тревоги и притягательности, из-за которой от игры трудно оторваться. Along the Edge — это история не столько о тайнах старого дома и глухой деревни с ее причудливыми обитателями, сколько о внутренней трансформации человека и о том, как эта личностная революция меняет мир, в котором героиня пытается найти свое место. Жесс, даже тут получил титан одиночества. А вообще игра понравилась. Очень зашёл визуальный стиль и красивые арты. История оказалась интересной и держала внимание до самого конца. Также понравилась система выборов со всякими элементами вроде звезды, солнца, земли и луны. Ещё приятно видеть, что решения действительно влияют на развитие событий и персонажей. В целом получил удовольствие от прохождения и не пожалел потраченного времени.
Along the Edge looks bad, reads worse, and somehow still manages to make its “interactive” choices feel completely meaningless. The writing is flimsy, the plot is trite and full of holes, and the endings are as daft as the journey getting there. Even the art style feels smug and ugly rather than distinctive. A thoroughly boring waste of time.

Pros and cons to this game. It is the second Nova-box game I read through, and both left me with similar feelings of, this could have been great. But it feels unsatisfying in the end. The art is a plus. The music faded into the background, which is fine as well. Gameplay-wise, I find the compass of choices very interesting, but it stops short of being actually engaging - different choices light up different parts of the "compass", indicating where your priorities lie and how you are influencing Daphné, but I find it so unsatisfying the game will not tell you where you are at with the compass, and there only seems one part of the game where the compass has an influence. And staying grounded in my dialogue choices meant I got the "boring" branch, where witchcraft did not seem to factor into the story at all. The romance in both Nova-box games I played felt superficial and unsatisfying. Along the Edge may be forgiven for that, as it is short, but even the longer Nova-box VN I read through didn't convince me any more - I made a conscious decision in this one to stay single and not even try entertain these men. The love interests are uninteresting. There's either [spoiler]your ex, with whom you went through a super traumatic experience and the relationship did not survive that, but now he's back around asking if you don't wanna try again, but are you sure, I'll just hang around and ask you again later (sigh),[/spoiler] and the other option is [spoiler]some spoiled rich dude that was rude in the bakery on your first meeting and then my therapist (of all people...) tells me "oh that rude dude, probably a romantic option".[/spoiler] I also did not like either of them visually, but of course that's very subjective. Between the two Nova-box VNs I played, that have the same full price, I do not recommend this one. I would say "Across the Grooves" is better, but it does have similar weaknesses as Along the Edge imo.

Finally got 100% achievements! I picked up this game a while ago when it was being offered for free, and now I'm interested in checking out more games from Nova-box. I really enjoyed the art style, the soundtrack, and the story. One thing I especially liked was how carefully you have to choose your dialogue options. It made every choice feel meaningful, since each one affects your stats in different ways. Overall, I had a great time with Along the Edge. Great job, Nova-box!
Along The Edge est un visual novel racontant l'histoire d'une jeune adulte revenant dans son village natal pour y visiter le manoir familial après un héritage. L'histoire se laisse suivre, les choix et les embranchements possibles sont riches. En fait, si vous suivez vos intuitions telles que vous reagiriez en vrai, cela vous donne un super test de personnalité sur mesure ! Un peu court en soi, mais assez prenant vu les différents choix parfois assez stressants que vous aurez a prendre. Les différents tableaux et dessins sont magnifiques. A prendre entre 2 grosses productions pour décompresser.

Сюжет банальщина: девушка Дафна в тупике, получает в наследство дом во французской глуши и внезапно оказывается в последней роду ведьм. Уникальность? ХАХАХАХАХАХАХАХАХАХАХ, твой выбор меняет не только сюжет, но и внешность героини типа глубокая механика, но по факту меняет картинку. Графика да, рисовка как в европейской комиксе, но это просто попытка скрыть гемплея тут ноль: никаких боев, никаких QTE просто сиди и читай простыни текста на 80000 слов. 60 концовок и 450 иллюстраций звучит круто, но по факту ты просто перебираешь варианты диалогов, как в дешевой книжке-выбиралке, Системные требования смешные, но это потому что там нечего нагружать, кроме твоего терпения. И да, недавно ее раздавали бесплатно в стиме, и даже халявщики оценили на 89%. Это просто скучная бродилка по меню для тех кому лень играть в нормальные игры.
