Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.71/day in the week to Aug 8 → 3.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The story wasn't great, but it was good. The environment design was good. The puzzles were fun, but not too much. The gameplay was weak. It wasn't good in terms of optimization. The game wasn't smooth and fluid. The gunplay was very weak. The enemies in the game were very repetitive and lacked variety. There weren't many boss fights, and the few that did exist weren't interesting. The game is short and ends quickly.

A love letter to the original Alone in the Dark. I hesitated when I came out because of the bugs, but these seem to be mostly fixed now. Now I wish there would be a follow up, but don't let that stop you—this game is great, the devs brought some great new ideas into the franchise. It stands tall as a solid Cthulhu mythos game. If you love horror games, this is worth your time.
Great remake on this super atmospherical horror game! It firstly released on 1992 btw, so this reimagining is great for people born after.
This is one of the most frustrating recommends I can make. For fans of the series, this is the best Alone in the Dark since The New Nightmare, and is the most faithful to the first game in terms of tone and type of horror. Finally we get a return to proper Lovecraftian themes not seen since the original masterpiece. The plot itself (though not necessarily its characters) is intriguing and the many notes you pick up are well-written and voice acted. I enjoyed the performance of David Harbour and Jodie Comer as the leads, and the puzzles range from easy to difficult but fair, never straying into any kind of insane moon logic. With all that said, this game could have been so much better. The mansion itself is suitably creepy and moving around it is unnerving, but you're rarely in any actual danger while in it. No, the monsters and combat is saved for memories you enter into, which are largely linear experiences that don't even take place in the dark (You know, like the title says) a good deal of the time! The monsters themselves are also very uninspired, mostly consisting of mixed-up human body parts. If you're going to use the Cthulhu Mythos, why not use the actual, expansive Cthulhu Mythos bestiary? There were a ton of great monsters they could have included like the first game did. Combat itself is also unengaging, and jostles between being too easy and being too difficult due to jank. There's also no difference between the two main characters in terms of the story. Same scenarios, same enemies, same puzzles, etc. The only changes are who engages with what and some changed around collectibles. Had the designers stuck closer to the first game or recent Resident Evils, they could have had a bigger hit. As I said, actually going through Derceto Manor was creepy, and it was fun figuring out which item to use where to open up more of the mansion. Had they filled the mansion with monsters instead of barely-there NPCs, it would have made for a really creepy and engaging experience. Instead, you have sparks of a better game in a mediocre one. I give it a recommend if only for fans of the series. Because the love for Alone in the Dark and Infogrames' other horror tiles (I especially loved its shout-out to Prisoner of Ice) is on clear display, and I only wish these developers got another shot. Because the good is there, it just needed some more polish.
Over 27 hours on the counter and I still must reluctantly give this a negative rating. I respect the series for its legacy and have been an enthusiast of the lovecraftian mythos for many years, so initially I suspected, that this game might just be underrated and misunderstood (by people, who probably concluded their experience with: "It's not RE2 remake or SH2 remake = 1/10"). Unfortunately, the more I played, the more I understood what the problems were. First some positive and neutral facts. It is not an action-oriented game and it abandons the model of a haunted house full of traps and scares known from the original. It is focused on the atmosphere, exploration and plot. The mansion is more like a hub with puzzles. You explore well crafted claustrophobic corridors and rooms that gradually reveal the history of the house and it's inhabitants. Enemies mostly appear in the „alternative worlds”. The puzzles are simple but well designed and provide satisfaction. The locations, events and characters are unique and memorable. What are my gripes then? The gameplay and the overall game concept are seriously undercooked: - the lore presentation is too chaotic. (not mysterious, but just messy) - there are too few differences when playing as the second character - too little variety of opponents - poor, stiff combat mechanics (even if action is not the games main focus) - various bugs and immersion-breaking design choices (invisible walls, the flashlight's light following the mouse moves even if the character is standing still, exiting the item inspection screen takes out the weapon, endlessly duplicating journal entries, etc.) Personally, I think that the camera shouldn't copy the currently popular third-person view from behind the character's right shoulder, but be fixed, like the original.(Towards the end, we even get a few unpolished fixed-camera sequences, probably as a tribute). However, the story, even if messy, is still the game's strongest point. In places, you'll find yourself pushing forward to learn the plot, despite the sometimes tedious gameplay. I was really hoping for a better experience and wanted for this reboot to revive the series, but for now it sadly remains alone in the dark.
Alone in the Dark delivers a strong atmospheric horror experience with great storytelling, engaging puzzles, and solid performances, and with the technical issues now resolved, it feels much smoother, making it a well-deserved **8/10** game.
