Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger.
Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 10.29/day in the week to Aug 18 → 16/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 9: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Twelve Years Later, the Alien Is Still Terrifying
Played for the first time twelve years after release, and it is impressive how well Alien: Isolation still holds up.

Atmosphere and the Alien
The atmosphere is easily the strongest part of Alien: Isolation. The sound design, environments, lighting, and overall feeling of being trapped on Sevastopol capture the Alien universe extremely well. The Alien itself is what really makes the game special. Especially when playing for the first time, you never completely know when it will appear or how it will react. On higher difficulties, that unpredictability creates some genuinely intense situations. I played on Hard, and the beginning could be pretty brutal until I started understanding how the Alien behaves. It can definitely become frustrating, but once the mechanics start to click, the game becomes much more enjoyable. There are also some genuinely good jumpscares. The game is not constantly terrifying, but it creates tension extremely well.

Story, Exploration, and Survival
The story is good and works well enough to keep the journey interesting. It is not the main reason I would recommend the game, but Amanda Ripley and the events on Sevastopol provide a solid framework for everything happening around you. The level design also worked well for me. Sevastopol can be confusing at first, but exploring the station and returning to previous areas never became annoying. Resource management on Hard was also fairly forgiving. I usually had enough equipment available, so the survival mechanics never became extremely punishing. Nightmare is probably the better option for players looking for a much more demanding resource experience. The overall length felt right as well. It is a relatively long survival horror game, but I never felt like it seriously overstayed its welcome.

Where the Gameplay Shows Its Age
The human enemies and Working Joes are probably the weakest part of the game. Fighting humans in particular is not very interesting and does not add much to the experience. I honestly would not have minded if some of those encounters had been removed entirely. The save system can also become frustrating. Missing a save point or dying at the wrong moment can sometimes mean repeating several minutes of gameplay. You can also notice the game’s age in some animations and smaller technical issues. I encountered a few bugs that required restarting the game, but nothing that seriously damaged the overall experience. For a game released more than a decade ago, it still holds up remarkably well.

Crew Expendable and Last Survivor
I also played Crew Expendable and Last Survivor. For fans of the original Alien movie, both are cool additions and recreating those moments with the Nostromo crew is a nice touch. They are extremely short, though, so they feel more like bonus content than essential parts of the game. Still, if you are already a fan of the franchise, they are absolutely worth experiencing once.

Final Verdict
Alien: Isolation is still an excellent survival horror game. Its greatest achievement is the Alien itself, which creates tension through unpredictability instead of simply following obvious scripted patterns. The story is solid, the atmosphere is outstanding, and the sound design does an incredible job of making Sevastopol feel dangerous even when nothing is happening. Some parts have clearly aged, especially the animations, human encounters, save system, and occasional bugs. But none of those issues outweigh what the game does well. For fans of the Alien franchise, this is an easy recommendation. Even twelve years later, it remains one of the best ways to experience the fear and atmosphere of the original Alien universe in a video game.
