I have been a fan of Albino Lullaby since the game's release almost 10 years ago. I was one of the many fans disappointed by the fact that it seemed like we would not be getting a sequel. After having played Alice's Lullaby, I can safely say: The wait was well worth it. This game, despite being released in 2024, manages to update it while simultaneously perfectly capturing the first games ambiance, humor and dialogue. I found myself on the edge of my seat as I learned the lore and finally being able to understand Albino Lullaby more, I have grown to love this franchise more. Alice's Lullaby is the PERFECT sequel to an already fun game. I am deeply looking forward to chapter 3 if there is going to one.
Context: The 1st game was released in 2015. They pre-sold episode 2 and 3 but we almost got nothing. Until now... It's been 9 years. But the longer I play, the more questions popped and say: "WTF?" I didn't mean to speedrun this game but it took only 90 minutes. What is that? What is happening? Why do I have do that? Who is that? Where is this place? Maybe they answered all of them but In my play, notihng. (Whole what's going on is depended on notes that have somewhat low res and terrible fonts.) Maybe because I'm grown up. Maybe because I lost fear or scare emotion. Or maybe this game isn't aged well.
Interesting game, I can say, pretty unique, but I didn't understand anything of it. Maybe it was because I was too preoccupied with the horrible motion sickness the game got me... you can't adjust the sensitivity, with the lowest dpi you can still do a 360 with a flick of the wrist and you can't deactivate the head bobbing. So a really psychedelic experience... Otherwise it's good, it gives you Borderlands vibes in terms of graphics. It runs pretty well, I didn't encounter any bugs. The best thing in the game is the voice acting, just on point, natural. Maybe there were too many letters you could read, you start ignoring them at a certain point and you miss the story. I recommend it because it's not the usual horror game you see on Steam. Check the craziness: https://youtu.be/vBVhqxYcH-s
As a wise man once said, "After nine years in development, hopefully it will have been worth the wait."
I'm glad it finally happened, love the first part. Happy with what I played and hope it doesn't take another near decade to finish off the story (if there is more, as it seems there is with multiple plot points being left fairly unresolved at the end). Until then I'll be thinking about the large implications of it all and trying to fit all the pieces together for quite a while. My only gripe is the audio mixing for the music and characters can be inconsistent, one or the other being quieter or MUCH louder. (very loud when the characters start yelling). Thank you devs for sticking with it!
Wow. I'm starting to understand why this took so long to build. Was it worth the wait? I'm grinning ear to ear. This whole experience is now expanded, the world-building front and center, and best of all, I do not know what eerie things I will be witnessing next. This is awesome. Alice's Lullaby is everything I hoped it would be, and more! I look forward to what comes next!
In short, a not quite finished work of art
I wouldn't say Alice's Lullaby, or it's predecessor for that matter, is particularly scary but what it is is supremely disquieting. This is a sick society and the artstyle, one which I have never quite seen anything similar, and superb score work wonders to sell just how strange, beautiful, lurid, and queasy it all is. Unfortunately, at the time of writing the game is also undoubtedly flawed - sound mixing is troublesome and certain gameplay elements cry out for tuning. Moreover, some polish is very much required to make its presentation on par with its predecessor. Overall though, if you want a mesmerising narrative presented in a manner you truly won't find anywhere else then look no further - just maybe try and put gameplay aside and mind the rough edges for now, hm?
7/10
Fascinating, haunting and eerie, this long, long awaited sequel is more or less what I'd hoped for. Some questions are answered, further questions are raised, and all of it wrapped in a surreal nightmare and phantasmagorical visuals. Though mildly buggy and littered with janky animation, it is by and large excusable considering the small team and what they've achieved overall. I only hope we don't have to wait another decade for the next chapter.
Что первая , что вторая часть прекрасны. Очень ждала продолжения
I saw in my Steam library that this sequel (or prequel? It's not really clear yet) to Albino Lullaby was to be released today. I woke up about 3am from insomnia, immediately downloaded and started this game. It does not disappoint! Very atmospheric, very bizarre/trippy with the story of Alice, the Grandchildren, and Grandmother, and even more development of the role of the Walklings. This is clearly a labor of love for Ape Law, and I highly recommend this game. Of course, you'll have a much better idea of what's going on if you play Albino Lullaby first. Steam lists this game for only $14.99, which is a steal! Get this game!
