love playing this game
Alice in Wonderland - Hidden Objects is a free mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a paid product. It's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. The game is a simple Lewis Caroll's Alice in Wonderland themed hidden object puzzle game with a lame, badly translated French adaptation of the story tacked onto the front. It's a lazy, broken mess, and typical for this "developer". From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game only displays in a 4:3 aspect ratio, making me wonder what a terrible time mobile peasants must have had trying to play this on their iPhones. The game features mostly static, barely animated 2D images, the kind of thing you expect to see in browser/flash games. While the artwork itself, while mediocre, might be considered passable, the visual presentation here is negligible, it might as well be a slideshow or a Youtube video. Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Asteroids had more advanced animation and visuals going on than this game does. The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen properly. There's a fullscreen mode, but this doesn't work properly, it just seizes your screen and then displays the game in a small part of the top left of your monitor. It's evident no testing was done for this game on modern PCs, but then again, this is a mobile app, so what do we expect? Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 6 players. That's right, only 6. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is to be expected. Gamers just didn't take this low quality game seriously, and for good reason. Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $2 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile game just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. Who do they think we are?
Alice in Wonderland – Hidden Objects is a casual puzzle adventure developed by Mzonestudio and published by M.INDIE that reimagines the whimsical world of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale as a traditional hidden-object game. Rather than presenting a complex story-driven adventure or a modern interpretation of the famous narrative, the game focuses on delivering a relaxing search-and-find experience set within a series of illustrated scenes inspired by Wonderland. It is designed primarily for players who enjoy calm, observational puzzle gameplay where patience and attention to detail are more important than fast reflexes or strategic planning. The premise loosely follows the familiar opening of Carroll’s story. Alice finds herself bored while sitting with her sister reading a book that seems to contain nothing interesting. Suddenly, a peculiar white rabbit dressed in clothing runs past her, anxiously checking his watch. Curiosity quickly takes over, prompting Alice to chase the rabbit down a mysterious hole that leads her into the strange and unpredictable world of Wonderland. From that moment forward, the player accompanies Alice on a journey through bizarre environments filled with unusual objects, hidden items, and whimsical scenery. Unlike narrative-driven adventure games that emphasize character development and dialogue, the story here mainly acts as a backdrop for the hidden-object gameplay. Each location represents a new part of Wonderland, and the progression from one scene to the next loosely follows Alice’s journey deeper into this dreamlike world. The narrative is presented in brief segments between levels, providing just enough context to maintain the illusion of traveling through Wonderland while keeping the main focus on puzzle-solving. Gameplay revolves around the familiar mechanics of the hidden-object genre. Each level presents a detailed scene filled with dozens of objects scattered across the environment. A list of items appears on the screen, and players must carefully scan the image to locate each one. Some objects are placed in plain sight, while others are cleverly disguised within the artwork, blending into the scenery or partially hidden behind other items. Success depends on careful observation and the ability to distinguish subtle shapes and colors within the cluttered environments. To assist players when a particular object proves difficult to locate, the game includes a hint system that highlights the approximate location of an item. These hints are limited, encouraging players to use them sparingly rather than relying on them for every challenge. Players can earn additional hints by discovering special bonus stars hidden throughout the scenes. This adds a secondary layer of challenge, rewarding those who thoroughly examine the environment rather than simply focusing on the listed objects. In addition to the main hidden-object sequences, the game occasionally introduces small mini-games that help break up the pacing. These include simple puzzles such as sliding tile challenges, basic logic puzzles, or tasks involving the use of collected items to unlock a path forward. While these segments are relatively straightforward, they add some variety to the experience and prevent the gameplay from becoming entirely repetitive. The environments in Alice in Wonderland – Hidden Objects attempt to capture the playful and surreal tone of Wonderland. Players explore a variety of colorful settings that reflect the whimsical nature of the original story, including enchanted gardens, curious forests, and fantastical tea-party scenes. Each location is packed with decorative details that contribute to the sense of exploring a strange and magical world. Although the scenes remain static illustrations rather than fully animated environments, they contain enough visual creativity to evoke the charm of the source material. Visually, the game uses a traditional hidden-object art style with hand-drawn backgrounds and colorful illustrations. The environments are filled with numerous decorative elements that make each scene feel dense and visually engaging. While the graphics are relatively simple compared to modern puzzle adventures, they still convey a storybook atmosphere that fits the whimsical theme of Wonderland. Character designs and environmental objects often feature exaggerated shapes and bright colors that help maintain the fairy-tale aesthetic. The soundtrack complements the relaxed pace of the gameplay with soft background music that accompanies the player during exploration. The music is generally calm and unobtrusive, designed to create a soothing atmosphere rather than dramatic tension. Sound effects are minimal but functional, providing feedback when objects are discovered or puzzles are completed. One of the most appealing aspects of the game is its accessibility. The controls are simple and intuitive, making it easy for players of all ages to pick up and start playing without needing to learn complex mechanics. Because the gameplay relies primarily on observation, it appeals to casual players who enjoy slow, methodical puzzles rather than fast-paced action. The relaxed pace also makes it well suited for short play sessions. However, the simplicity that makes the game accessible can also be one of its weaknesses. The gameplay remains largely consistent from beginning to end, with few new mechanics introduced as the adventure progresses. Players who are already familiar with hidden-object games may find that the puzzles begin to feel repetitive after several levels. Additionally, the narrative elements remain quite minimal, meaning that the story never becomes a central driving force behind the gameplay. Despite these limitations, Alice in Wonderland – Hidden Objects manages to deliver a pleasant casual puzzle experience. The colorful environments and whimsical setting provide a charming backdrop for the search-and-find gameplay, and the inclusion of mini-games helps add small moments of variety. While it may not offer groundbreaking ideas within the genre, it successfully captures the relaxing appeal that hidden-object fans often seek. Ultimately, Alice in Wonderland – Hidden Objects is best enjoyed as a light and relaxing puzzle game rather than a deep narrative adventure. Its straightforward mechanics, colorful visuals, and familiar Wonderland setting create a comfortable experience that casual players can enjoy without stress. For fans of hidden-object games or those simply looking for a quiet puzzle experience inspired by a classic fantasy world, it offers a charming if somewhat traditional journey through Wonderland.
