Alekon

Solid game and very reminiscent of Pokemon Snap. Love the designs for the fictions and enjoyed their humorous titles. The rail system through the levels felt incredibly fast but that was totally fine because after you unlock a whole zone you can free roam it, which is even better. The mini games were sometimes a little harsh and caused some frustration but in general were a nice addition. If you find yourself struggling with the music mini games I definitely recommend just coming back to them later once you have the slow down ability. I wish that had come into play earlier or that I knew it was coming because that would have saved me some irritation when I was working through the game one zone at a time.

This game invokes a nostalgic, comfortable feeling in me like few other games can. The soundtrack, environments, and creature designs are all great, and blend together as a wholesome, if short, game.

Fun short game, in line with pokemon snap but has an added feature where you can play some short games with each creature you take a picture of. Really enjoyed playing it.

Alekon is a very charming game about taking photographs of fictional creatures. The first few passes through a level are on-rails but after figuring out some of the basics you will be allowed to free roam. In-between photography sessions there are also minigames to play. They often unlock cosmetic upgrades either for the hub world or your photographs. It's cute, charming, and chill. I hope that these developers have successful careers.

Alekon is a fun game. Taking photos of fictions to earn creativity, and receiving more creativity for better photos, is good incentive to really work for good photos. Doing quests for fictions to unlock new upgrades for your camera makes for a good sense of progression. However, alot of sidequests will only unlock a customization option for your hub world or taken photos, and there's a ton, with alot of them being too minute to really be worth it. All in all a fun game that provides a different feeling than most first person games.

I got this game through the 2023 Yogscast Jingle Jam and it sat dormant in my library for a while until I finally played it. Once I did, the game was an absolute joy! It was relatively simple gameplay but still varied and highly engaging, and the minigames were fantastic! It made it so exciting to unlock new monsters, and finding all the poses was super fun.

Do you like Pokémon Snap? Then you'll like this game. Alekon fills in an interesting niche of gameplay where you travel through various levels and take pictures of all sorts of whimsical and colorful creatures. And that's the game. At first you go through levels in a guided tour sort of manner, where movement and the path you take is automatic and you just have to focus on taking pictures of animals as they go past your view. But after that, you're able to load up these levels and run around them and explore at your leisure. It's colorful, fun, and friendly and a cozy casual type of game that you can play at your pace, however fast or slow that might be. The game does an excellent job at helping you figure out what types of pictures you're missing, giving you hints on where to find hidden animals and how you might provoke a specific reaction from them to get the perfect photo. After that, your photos are judged and then added to a photo album for later viewing. Unlike Pokémon Snap, you're not stuck playing the same level over and over again, waiting for a specific moment to take a specific photo only to get to the end and being told that you weren't close enough. Overall, you'll get about 10 hours of gameplay out of it. And that's not including the little minigames you unlock along the way. There are plenty of cosmetic things that you can unlock if that's your fancy as well!
