A charming and all-around enjoyable Mystery Dungeon-style roguelike with crafting and multiple characters to choose from. The old school gameplay is augmented by retro-inspired graphics and sounds, much like in other games published by Flyhigh Works. It's worth noting that there are multiple multi-floor "levels" present, each one longer and more difficult than the last, and that things don't start to hit true Mystery Dungeon difficulty until Level 4. The character classes and crafting are also not as complex as in, say, Dungeons of Dredmor, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but notable nonetheless. There's no in-dungeon shops, but with the crafting system and readily available materials, you won't miss them. If you love the genre, check it out. It's fun, worth the price, and will scratch that Shiren itch.
good gam
Alchemic Dungeons DX is a retro-styled roguelike dungeon crawler that places careful planning, resource management, and experimentation at the center of its design. Developed by Q-Cumber Factory and published by Flyhigh Works, the game builds on the foundation of earlier entries in the series and refines them into a more complete and accessible experience. From the very beginning, it establishes itself as a methodical, turn-based adventure that values thoughtful decision-making over fast reflexes, appealing strongly to players who enjoy classic dungeon exploration with a strategic twist. The core structure revolves around procedurally generated dungeons presented on a grid, where every movement you make advances the world around you. Enemies only act when you do, giving combat a chess-like rhythm in which positioning and timing matter as much as raw power. Early floors are relatively forgiving, allowing players to learn enemy behaviors, item effects, and basic survival tactics, but the challenge gradually escalates as dungeon depth increases. Mistakes become more costly over time, and careless exploration can quickly snowball into a failed run, reinforcing the importance of patience and foresight. What truly distinguishes Alchemic Dungeons DX from many similar roguelikes is its strong emphasis on crafting. Rather than relying solely on random loot drops, the game encourages players to gather materials and actively create their own weapons, armor, consumables, and tools. This alchemy system adds a meaningful layer of strategy, forcing players to decide how best to use limited resources and which items will provide the greatest advantage in the current run. Crafting is not just a side feature but a core pillar of progression, often determining whether a descent ends in success or failure. Character variety further enhances replayability. The DX version expands the roster of playable characters, each with different stats, strengths, and growth patterns that subtly alter how the game is approached. Some characters excel in direct combat, others benefit from ranged tactics or magic-focused builds, and each encourages different crafting priorities and risk assessments. Experimenting with these characters helps keep repeated runs fresh, as the same dungeon layouts can feel very different depending on who you choose to play and how you build them. Visually, the game embraces an 8-bit pixel art style that deliberately evokes classic dungeon crawlers and early console roguelikes. While simple, the presentation is clean and readable, making it easy to parse dungeon layouts, enemy positions, and item icons at a glance. This clarity is important in a game where strategic awareness is key, and it ensures that visual noise never interferes with gameplay. The retro soundtrack complements this aesthetic, providing light, nostalgic music that reinforces the game’s relaxed yet thoughtful tone without becoming intrusive during longer play sessions. In terms of difficulty and pacing, Alchemic Dungeons DX strikes a more approachable balance than many hardcore roguelikes. It does not relentlessly punish new players, instead allowing space to learn systems and experiment without constant failure. This design choice makes it welcoming to those unfamiliar with the genre, though players seeking extreme difficulty or highly complex procedural systems may find it less demanding over time. Dungeon layouts and enemy encounters can begin to feel familiar after many runs, which slightly diminishes long-term surprise, but the crafting system and character variety help offset this repetition. Overall, Alchemic Dungeons DX succeeds as a thoughtfully designed, content-rich roguelike that emphasizes strategy, preparation, and creativity over speed or brute force. It may not radically reinvent the genre, but it delivers a cohesive and enjoyable experience that blends classic dungeon crawling with a satisfying alchemy system. For players who appreciate turn-based exploration, careful planning, and the steady satisfaction of mastering interconnected systems, it offers a rewarding and replayable adventure that captures the charm of old-school roguelikes while remaining accessible to a broad audience. Rating: 5/10
One of my absolute favorite Mystery Dungeon-style games. High recommend for those who just need another hit of dopamine while Spike Chunsoft is developing their next title.
I hate crafting, and I wish rather than dropping all these reagents you have to tediously mix together that the game simply dropped the end items for you, but I understand that is a matter of preference and if you're into crafting this is a fun little game at a reasonable price point.
wonderful mystery dungeon style game mixed with an addicting crafting system. if you are a fan of this genre, definitely check it out.
Ignore my playtime, I have over 400 hours on Nintnedo Switch, all of which were well spent. Alchemic Dungons DX is likely as close to a Delicious in Dungeon roguelike as we'll get, and a solid foundation for an amazing sequel we will never have the chance to play. This is an almost arcade-y take on the Mystery Dungeon genre with some crafting elements that let you create weapons, armor, and consumables out of materials littered throughout each floor. A large part of the appeal is being able to make the perfect arsenal to make it to the last floor. Sadly, the closest thing to this is Nito Fusion in Touhou Genso Wanderer -RELOADED-, which is a shame, because this take on the Mystery Dungeon genre needs a spiritual successor, if not a true sequel. (Prove me wrong, Q-Cumber Factory! Please develop Alchemic Dungeons 2, with more crafting recipes, an explorable overworld with towns, NPCs, and side-quests!)
good game, hard tho
最初のチュートリアルでハマって、進めなくなったので 面白い面白くない以前の問題でした
Very good! The first time I played this game was on the 3DS version and it was great!, after some time, I tried searching for this game, and I was surprised when I found that it has a DX version! This game has a lot stuff to play around with, though confusing at first, once you learn a bit, it becomes really fun to toy around with all the different potions, stones, enchantments and more! It would be great if it had something like an expert mode to have a truly challenging time, since mastering the game does make it a bit trivial (unless prophet) Pretty good game, definitely one of my favorites!
