About

SuperQuest is a comedy focused turn-based RPG where you traverse through a series of dungeons filled with treacherous traps, mind-bending puzzles (they’re not that hard) and a variety of monsters that you can dispatch by using the game’s unique “Trick” mechanic!

Every individual enemy has unique actions that can be taken against them: you can steal bananas from the monkeys, or try to crack jokes with the skeletons. However this is never done as a means to diplomacy but to give yourself the upper-hand in combat so you can deliver the final blow!

You also have a TP meter that’ll fill up once you’ve taken or dealt enough damage, allowing you to use that character’s “Special Skill”, to help get you out of a tight spot!

Absolutely hilarious hidden gem of a game, would highly recommend to all!
And ABSOLUTE GEM. The writing in this game is superb. An amazing time so far that felt like it was going to be short and sweet but extends out further. I adore the characters and Poppy is definitely a personal favourite. EDIT: Made a small comment in my review about bugs but Hypershrip was swift to respond to the issue! Wonderful work.
goofy RPG maker game that's surprisingly well written. compared to its predecessors this game had some really good jokes and subversions up its sleeve. doesn't take itself seriously but it still has decent RPG gameplay. highly recommended!

It's a wacky short RPG. The bits are very well designed. I played it on hard-mode from the get-go and it wasn't too difficult, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The characters are memorable. Poppy can and should be trusted with the worlds nuclear arsenal.
SuperQuest is a lighthearted turn-based RPG that proudly embraces absurdity from beginning to end. Rather than telling a conventional fantasy tale, the game throws players into an outrageous mission to rescue the President, using that unusual premise as the foundation for a nonstop stream of jokes, bizarre encounters, and unexpected twists. Its retro-inspired pixel visuals immediately evoke the charm of classic role-playing games, but the writing constantly reminds players that this is a comedy first and foremost. The result is an adventure that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly unpredictable, delivering an experience that is more interested in making players laugh than following traditional RPG conventions. The game's world is built around a series of dungeon expeditions that feature more than straightforward monster encounters. Every location introduces traps, environmental hazards, puzzles, and hidden surprises that encourage exploration instead of rushing directly toward the next objective. While the puzzles are designed to make players think, they avoid becoming frustratingly complex, making progression accessible without sacrificing variety. The changing environments help maintain a steady pace, with each new area introducing fresh challenges and visual themes that prevent the adventure from becoming repetitive. Combat follows a familiar turn-based structure but distinguishes itself through an inventive Trick mechanic. Instead of simply attacking enemies with weapons and abilities, players can perform unique actions tailored to each type of opponent. Some creatures can be distracted, embarrassed, or manipulated in humorous ways before they are defeated, giving battles an entertaining layer of strategy beyond selecting standard attacks. Discovering how different enemies react becomes part of the fun, rewarding experimentation while reinforcing the game's comedic personality. This mechanic transforms ordinary encounters into memorable moments and keeps combat engaging throughout the adventure. Another enjoyable feature is the TP system, which gradually fills during battle as characters participate in combat. Once enough energy has been accumulated, powerful Special Skills become available, allowing players to unleash devastating attacks or game-changing abilities at critical moments. Deciding when to activate these techniques adds tactical depth without making the gameplay feel overly complicated. The balance between ordinary attacks, Tricks, and powerful specials creates a satisfying combat rhythm that remains approachable for newcomers while offering enough decision-making to keep experienced RPG players invested. Humor is unquestionably the defining characteristic of SuperQuest. Nearly every conversation, scripted event, and gameplay sequence is designed to entertain through exaggerated comedy and self-aware writing. The game frequently pokes fun at familiar RPG clichés while presenting ridiculous situations that escalate in increasingly unexpected directions. Whether players are dealing with eccentric characters, witnessing over-the-top action sequences, or encountering bizarre enemy interactions, the experience consistently delivers a playful tone that rarely takes itself seriously. Those looking for emotional storytelling may find the narrative intentionally shallow, but players who appreciate satire and offbeat humor will likely find plenty of memorable moments. Visually, the game succeeds by embracing a colorful pixel-art presentation that complements its comedic atmosphere. Character sprites are expressive despite their simplicity, and the enemy designs reflect the same quirky imagination found throughout the writing. The environments are varied enough to give each dungeon its own personality, while the animations remain smooth and effective during exploration and combat. Combined with energetic sound effects and fitting background music, the presentation reinforces the game's cheerful identity without attempting to compete with technically advanced modern RPGs. SuperQuest also benefits from a well-balanced pace that alternates naturally between exploration, puzzle solving, dialogue, and combat. The game avoids spending too much time on any single mechanic, ensuring that each section introduces something fresh before repetition can set in. Although the adventure follows a relatively linear path, its entertaining writing and creative gameplay systems provide enough variety to keep players engaged from beginning to end. Steam achievements and the opportunity to discover additional combat interactions further encourage replayability for players who enjoy uncovering every hidden detail. Overall, SuperQuest is a charming indie RPG that succeeds by fully committing to its unconventional sense of humor while supporting it with enjoyable turn-based mechanics and creative enemy interactions. Its unique Trick system adds originality to traditional combat, the dungeon exploration remains consistently entertaining, and the colorful presentation captures the spirit of classic role-playing games without feeling outdated. While it may not appeal to players seeking a deeply emotional narrative or highly intricate gameplay systems, it excels as a fun, accessible adventure that understands exactly what it wants to be. Fans of humorous RPGs with inventive mechanics and retro-inspired charm will likely find SuperQuest to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Rating: 8/10
What a charming and incredibly funny game! It's a JRPG that doesn't take itself seriously in the slightest, instead focusing on comedy. It strikes a good balance between (surprisingly good) slapstick and comedic writing. HyperShrimp seems to have a very special talent when it comes to subversive jokes, most of the time I couldn't really predict where the punchline was going to come from, and it was a hilarious surprise each time; what I think is even more impressive is that it never really crosses the line into lame "lol random" humor. The characters were all really charming and funny too, I couldn't get enough of Hazel and Poppy personally. The combat part is pretty alright, it's kept very simple while also not being the standard rpg maker battle system; each character has one unique ability that they can use when they fill up their meter and that's it, but everyone has access to a "Trick" command (think Act from Undertale/Deltarune, but you're not actually trying to spare anyone) that turns several fights into fun puzzles, but they're definitely not the highlight of the game. There's also no real random encounters, so that's also a plus. Speaking of puzzles, each dungeon is basically a short puzzle gauntlet with its own special gimmick. They're not brainbusters, but I thought they were engaging enough to be fun, and they evolve in interesting ways, especially at the very end of the game; I enjoyed them a lot. The artstyle is vibrant with very pretty pixel art, and character designs are striking and cute, I only have praise for those. Same goes for the music, a lot of it is very nice and catchy. The whole game itself ends up being pretty short (6 hours or so in my case, but I left it running while doing other things at times because I'm scatterbrained so maybe 5 is more accurate), but I think that's to its benefit. Good jokes don't need to last long, and in most cases they really shouldn't. For the price, I think it's worth it! All in all it's kinda like playing through a silly cartoon. Very good.
Its so funny i dont know what to tell you
This game is so dumb, I love it!
This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious
Not a fan of these kinds of games usually. Mostly because they suck and have nothing to offer except their satire, which falls into cringe and gets way worse than what they're parodying extremely fast. SuperQuest strikes a very difficult balance on that front, while also just being a nice game. I think what stands out the most is that you can skip all the quirky dialogue and still have a good time. Also, the art is damn great. Worth the time and money.
