I review Steam games in Alphabetical order, you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/2jgLu-EeO88 tl;dr version: Fun puzzle game with a core mechanic of moving all controllable robots at the same time. Plenty of mechanics and level variety, excellent soundtrack and art style. Recommend trying it out if you like puzzle games!
akirobots is one of those 'move everything at the same time' puzzlers you either love or hate. I'm in the latter camp but occasionally give one a shot to torture myself, and I'm glad I tried this because it's really good. the goal on every level is to make sure that one of the bird-bots reaches the socket. simple enough, but of course there are other robo-creatures that help or hinder your attempts, such as retractable platforms, both horizontal and vertical, pushable blocks in two sizes (more than one can be pushed at the same time, which isn't always possible in such games), blocks you can only step on a few times before they disappear, floating platforms, and even flying or mirrored (and both flying and mirrored) versions of the bird-thing. it's all turn-based though, no timing or dying as such (though occasionally you can fall off the level if there's no bottom) and unlimited undo is available for less stressful experimentation. no hard turn limit either, but the developer's best moves are optional goals to match or beat. 100 regular levels in 7 worlds with a few bonus ones here and there and progression is non-linear, so often multiple levels are available to try and the next world can be unlocked without completing everything in the current one. I never made it that far, but I was told bonus levels unlock after completing level 88 in world 7. controls are straightforward, wasd, arrows or controller to move, holding the mouse works too, but I wouldn't recommend it. 'e' is undo, 'r' is reset, no rebinds though, and I wouldn't mind if backspace also worked as undo. settings include separate volume manipulation, resolutions, windowed mode, brightness and v-sync, they're available while playing, not only from the main menu, and the mouse works everywhere as well. it's definitely an easy to learn, hard to master situation, especially because mirrored movement gets introduced as soon as level 5 and I hate that even in games where you don't control everything at the same time to begin with. lots of clever solutions and plenty of levels though, and if you want more, an easy-to-use level editor is also included. levels can be shared quickly within or outside the game, as they're all just a bunch of characters to copy and paste. built-in levels can also be edited (or remixed, as the game calls it), but obviously they won't count for progress. I've said many times that these simultaneous movement puzzlers stress me out and this is no exception, but the whole thing is done really well, everything looks, sounds and works great (music is a bit repetitive), and thanks to non-linearity, I could unlock most worlds and try many levels before throwing in the towel. absolutely worth playing if you're into this sort of thing, but maybe wait for a sale, I think the 7 eur asking price is too much.
Simple puzzle game with well-thought level design, comfortable controls and ok visual style. If Snakebird is too hard for you, maybe you'll enjoy building robot towers piece by piece more (but don't think it'll be easy).
My initial reaction to seeing this game was "It looks like suffering." I'm very bad at platformer games. BUT this is a puzzle platformer. So why not? Plus, I really love the minimalistic art style. I'm a fan. :> Try to beat pony moves and do big brain plays. 83
Looks easy right? Wrong! There's great challenge, especially since you control all moving parts at once. I love everything about this game, first and foremost, the development team are the nicest people you'll ever meet. If you're into tricky movement puzzles, pleasant music and visuals, then give it a go.
This game is delightfully fun, a lot of content. I planned to finish all levels before writing a review but unfortunately it's taking too long because the game has too much content. Good replayability, you can improve your score and compare to the dev score, which makes the game even longer. Beautiful art and animations, not clutered, definitely would recommend ! A steal at this price for any puzzle lover !
AkiRobots has gleefully simple design yet complex puzzle mechanics that can be really challenging at times. Great game for fans of relaxing puzzle games! The level editor gives the game an extra twist which makes the game worthwhile to come back to time after time to create and share levels with friends and foes alike (escpecially foes, there is nothing better than see your enemies falter under your superior intellect and puzzle game skills).
Very fun and cool puzzle game, annoyed me in all the right ways, as a puzzle game should do in my opinion. Definitely worth a try.
Delightful bite-sized puzzles that ramp up the challenge level nicely after clearing the few first worlds! Pleasant music and visuals too.
