Air Hockey

Air Hockey is, well, just what it says on the box. It's an air hockey simulator game. There's multiplayer, but no players (for reasons I'll get into below), but you can play against tha AI. There's some bells and whistles like pickups/powerups, but you can disable these for a more authentic game experience. A game experience of playing air hockey against an AI. Sigh. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls and game handling are notably very clunky and unsmooth here. The physics handling and hit detection is very poor. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing. They dropped the ball (puck?) on this one. The game is very badly optimised, despite having low quality assets and visuals, poor production values and no real reason for a high workload on anyone's system, the game runs the GPU up to 100% immediately. While this may seem to be evidence of cryptomining, Valve checks for that prior to allowing a game on Steam through Steam Direct. It's more likely the developer just had no idea what they were doing and didn't do any optimisation. Regardless of the reason, if you don't want your PC getting thrashed needlessly by bad software, you might want to avoid this game. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 9 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Air Hockey is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

This game made me go trough of agony, pain, excitement and much more emotiones. U wanna now why ? I tell ya believe if i tell u, u should never bet on a game llike this ( i hate the fortnite dance) but if u feel confident enough bet ur soul on the line this is something i would recommend you 9/10 (i lost the bet ) ps: yes im drunk

Что такое аэрохоккей, я полагаю, прекрасно знают практически все обитатели данного сайта. Поэтому расписывать геймплей не буду. Хотя... есть в данной реализации и своя фишка - это множество положительных и отрицательных эффектов, которые могут быть наложены на игрока, от кого шайба влетела в отмеченную на карте область зелёного или, соответственно, красного цвета. Магнитизм или, скажем, увеличение размера битка скажутся на игре в положительную сторону, а вот выключение света на арене или прозрачность шайбы - в отрицательную. Эффектов вообще много, несколько десятков, и это плюс игре. Ещё плюсом будет большой разброс в силе соперника при игре против ИИ - каждый игрок способен подобрать себе оппонента по силам. Но, к сожалению, кроме игры против компьютера заняться здесь нечем. Мультиплеер ожидаемо мёртвый. При этом некоторые ачивки можно выбить только через него. Каких-нибудь компаний здесь нет. Челленджей - тоже нет. Возможности организовать турнир - тоже нет... Остаётся лишь снова и снова играть против компа. И даже настроек для такой игры немного - только "до скольки очков играем", да "не отрубить ли бонусы". Почему оценка, тем не менее, положительная? Да потому, что всё-таки это весело. С достаточно сложным ИИ играть интересно, а бонусы разнообразят игру и увеличивают эмоции от неё. Можно поругаться на оптимизацию, можно поругаться на невозможность выбить платину, но отбить желание поиграть такая ругань не способна. После очередного противостояния кремниевому мозгу в голове появляются приятные мысли типа "это было круто, надо ещё раз как-нибудь повторить". А разве не это самый главный критерий при оценке игр? Короче, свои 79 рублей Air Hockey отрабатывает.
