About
AI Society is an civilization simulation game where every character is driven by a local AI model.
Create up to 25 unique characters and define who they are:
• Set personality traits; how peaceful, hardworking, extroverted, generous, playful, or dominant they are
• Give them hobbies like fishing, wood carving, or leatherworking
• Write a freeform description to shape their worldview and backstory
• Choose their appearance and gender
Characters in AI Society are fully autonomous. They will:
• Find jobs and fill roles in the town's economy based on their personalities
• Earn and spend money, manage hunger, and seek rest
• Form relationships, some warm, some tense, based on their traits and interactions
• Characters can get married and have children to continue their legacy
• Post thoughts, reactions, and confrontations on their own social media
• Visit the homes and farms of their neighbors, or gather at the tavern for a drink after work
• Fight with characters they despise, and if things go badly, die permanently
• Drop what they're doing to swarm and attack the intruders when the town is getting raided by bandits
When a character dies, they're gone. Their job goes unfilled. Their relationships dissolve. They're remembered in the town cemetery, where others may visit their grave. With a revive token, they can be brought back to life.
Level up your town and rank by going on adventures and reaching milestones in your town
• Play mini-games, dungeon raids, or town rivals to gain XP for your town
• Reach milestones in your town, such as defending your first bandit raid, and earn XP
Play mini-games or fight your way through dungeons & town rivals with your characters to gain town XP and win artifacts that gives them special perks
• Rare, epic, & exclusive legendary drops when you complete a dungeon
• Win more artifacts for your characters when you beat a mini-game
• Play 6 different mini-games and 5 tiered dungeons
• Battle & go on raids with the strongest characters in your civilization
• When characters die in a dungeon, they die permanently
• Go into battle with your town's population and fight off the other town rivals
Control the town or the characters with your god powers
• Put thoughts in character's heads
• Force a confrontation or an encounter
• Cause chaos and smite town resources or exile your characters
• Watch your characters react to your decisions on their social media
• Heal characters before dungeon raids
• Pick up characters and drop them where you'd like on the map
AI Society runs entirely on your machine using Ollama. No internet required, no subscriptions/monthly payments, no data sent anywhere. Works with LM Studio. Choose the model that fits your hardware:
• Llama 3.2 1B - Lightweight, runs on almost anything
• Llama 3.1 8B - Best character quality and depth (Recommended)
• Gemma 2 2B - An alternative lightweight option
Every conversation, every social media post, every decision your townsfolk make is generated live by the AI model you select.
Note:
Linux Users: GPU acceleration works automatically for NVIDIA GPUs.
AMD GPU Users: install ollama via curl -fsSL | sh for GPU support.
Without it, AMD GPUs will run on CPU (slower but functional).

You don't impact anything, you just watch..... very boring.
I got this game after seeing how they responded to community feedback and implemented people's advice into the game (including my own). It's been a month since that time, and they've added a whole lot more. For one, now you can have your characters be more active, have community meetups and battle invaders. Second, now they can have an XP system and even compete with other towns and level up. The biggest con to the game is more the fault of LLMs and content limitation, it can take a while for the LLM to decide on something especially in relation to what the game allows it to do. There aren't a lot of buildings etc for it to build so most of the time they will just banter and talk about how they farmed for the day (while it doesn't show much in the actual game). As much as my GPU is capable of more advanced LLMs than their recommended ones, I'd still recommend simpler LLMs because they would be faster in thinking especially with a higher population. In its current level of content, I'm neutral in my recommendation, but I'll give it a thumbs up because of how active the developer(s) are in improving it, and as the only LLM based game I've found on Steam thus far, I want to see it succeed personally. As long as it doesn't eventually get abandoned, it has a good future once more gets added to the game.
AI Society is a charming and relaxing management game with a lot of personality. Watching the little AI citizens grow, work, and interact makes building your society feel rewarding. Inserting friends and family into your society and choosing their roles is very fun. It is easy to pick up, satisfying to play, and has a cozy style. It's a great game that you can leave in the background to progress if you cannot put your full attention to it.
Overall, this game is really intriguing with many customizable aspects. I really liked the aspect of creating your own characters and making their personality types. The way each character interacted with each other was addicting to watch as the world went on. There would be random events that happen from time to time that makes the game less boring. Many options to interact with the characters yourself too. I can't wait to see what updates and changes that will be added to the game.
I really wanted to like it, and I had big hopes despite other comments. But it just feels like all my interactions are disconnected from what is happening, Villagers messing up facts, couples not getting married even if they have 100 relations and they want to get married. All conversations and visions seem to not have effect, maybe few times it influenced some buildings but despite of that... pointless. Also somehow it happened that i had two villagers that been in love, at least thats what they told me and they had relation on 100 as well, but still showing up as best friends and not getting married. Could be because they were both male, but that just kills all immersion and interaction with anything. The whole simulation is not simulating... But i dont regret buying this game, because in this way i was able to support someone developing this game, and it's really not expensive and on the discount right now. I look forward to see what will be in future updates.
A really interesting hidden gem that I hope is expanded on. Firstly this truly is an Idle game - you set it up and let it run and allow yourself to be entertained by daily news, interactions, etc. A small guide for those interested in buying - Set your world up - I used recommended LLM for characters Create your Characters - do some depth what they like what they hate what they're about (this helps the A.I. create interactions) The more extroverted they are the more you'll see them in Socials etc. The more Introverted the less you see dialogue. There are jobs for the village - find out whats needed - Farmer, Miner, Builder, are essentials. You can assign them within the Town tab - click a character hit change button underneath job title. If you want the town to grow its a must. I typcally play another game or work on projects while it runs in the background then come back to check out progress. Lastly just enjoy the nuance of the game. I placed a lot of characters within the game with different expectations ideas etc - this allows them to clash, come together, take small pocket shots at each - other etc. Hope to see more changes one thing I do wish for hope for - is that you can see character dialogue outside of social media - maybe conversations between two characters with some depth.
This game is great. Its like your own little Ai ant farm. It's perfect to throw on a second monitor and watch your town. All of the negative review issues have been fixed in the game. The developers are adding things weekly. For 10 bucks its worth it. Super cool way of blending Ai and an idle game.
Nettes kleines Idle Game.
