Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Aug 14 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
One of my favourite games ever, to me it is a masterpiece just for its single player mode, and with the right person it can be just as fun in multiplayer. The universe is actually very interesting not only with the storyline but also with the clever description of the numerous units, which gives each game a very immersive feeling. Moreover, the way you lead your campains, with a variety of strategic and tactic options rarely found elsewhere, makes you think deeply about your own personnality and morality as a leader. Going through Age of Wonders is more than juste playing a fun game, it is a deep introspection in a fantasy world that holds a very special place in my heart. Thanks a lot to all those that contributed to create this game, with a special mention for the soundtrack that is amazing and that I still listen to nowadays !
It's a sad fact that the game does not work well on Windows 11. I remember reading a rumour about the devs losing the source code to fix or hope for any sort of remake to a game that marked my childhood fantasies.

fun but dated
By God what a game. I know the later entries get even better, but what's here is still incredible. The mechanics are quite simple, they're not hard to understand, but the way they interact with each other is what really makes the experience. All the races feel distinct from each other and have their own style. A lot of them parallel each other, like the Highmen and Undead, the High and Dark Elves, Frostlings and Azracs, Goblins and Dwarves. I had a lot of fun trying all of them out, seeing the differences in strategy the subtle variations between the units bring. Ultimately, my favourite ones ended up being Highmen and Orcs. And the campaign does a great job introducing you to them and teaching, and later on testing you on, how to play the game. Some of the later maps in the campaign are no joke and had me sweating bullets. They thoroughly tested my understanding of the game and felt great to beat. The story, while told mostly through text, surprised me with how good it was. The text was well written and really got across the emotions and mood it wanted it to. Be it the cheerful celebration with the halflings, the resentment your character feels towards their faction leaders, if certain choices were taken, the suffering from horrendous nightmares, or the very touching ending for the good path. If i had to say something negative, that would be the stupidity of the AI. I played on Emperor exclusively, once i got good enough at the game to be able to, and even still the AI didn't push me to the extent i feel it could have, were it smarter. It does way too many odd and illogical strategical and tactical choices that i sometimes find hard not to laugh at. It's not particularly bright and feels very unfocused. Though this is on Normal behaviour settings, from the little i tested, depending on what you want from it, it can actually be a bit better at times, but not by much. The other problem i have is, paradoxically, the small number of scenarios to choose from. The ones that are included are really good and most of my playtime was squeezed from them, but there's not much. Though this little issue can be resolved by downloading new scenarios online. Overall, a fantastic game, one i thoroughly recommend. It's hard to believe that the subsequent games are even better, when the bar for quality is set so high. Thanks for reading this review, i hope you have a great day
Its broken for modern hardware.
bestest chillest game ever
One of the best games ever made into which I poured countess hours on the CD-ROM. This playthrough I conquered the Valley of Wonders via the Cult of Storms. I was perhaps more in awe of how well this game was made after seeing it hold up shocking well 25+ years later. As someone who revisits a lot of older games, the UI and control system surpasses any game of its era (even rivaling some modern ones!). Combine that with the artwork, storyline, and immense attention to detail -- this game still holds up. Cons: Had some crashing issues that I never experienced with the original two and a half decades ago, but were resolved simply by restarting the game or, on very rare occasions, restarting the computer. I didn't want to download any of the modern patches/fixes as to avoid any risk of malware. [Additionally (with no affect on gameplay), introductory movie wouldn't play. Pulled it up on YouTube for a refresher.]
This game is super fun and well made. Simple, but well done. I love how you can rank up your main Hero to be literally unstoppable. The campaign is good but I love playing skirmish mostly. That's where you have longevity in this game.
