I originally played Age of Wonders on a Windows 98 PC over two decades ago, so coming back to it after all this time has been a fantastic trip down memory lane. Nostalgia was definitely part of what brought me back, but I was pleasantly surprised by just how well the game still holds up. The graphics and interface are undeniably from another era, but the gameplay is as engaging as I remember. Building your empire, exploring the map, managing diplomacy, researching spells, and fighting tactical turn-based battles all come together incredibly well. Every faction feels distinct, and there's enough variety to keep each playthrough interesting. What impressed me most was how timeless the core design is. Many strategy games from this period feel dated because of their mechanics, but Age of Wonders still rewards careful planning and experimentation. It's easy to see why it became a classic and laid the foundation for the games that followed. Returning to this game reminded me why I spent so many hours playing it on my old Windows 98 machine. It isn't just nostalgia carrying the experience—the gameplay genuinely stands the test of time. I did run into a couple of small technical issues on a modern system. The map.scene error was easy enough to fix, and I found that running the game in windowed mode resolved the resolution problems I initially experienced. Once those minor issues were sorted, the game ran without any real problems. If you're a fan of classic turn-based strategy or you're curious about where the Age of Wonders series began, this is absolutely worth playing. It's a true classic that has earned its place in strategy gaming history.
Great game but can´t recommend it as the Steam version always crashes on a modern system after a couple of turns. Common Steam fix it already!
It's ancient but charming. It looks like generic fantasy bs(I mean it kinda is), but the lore behind this game is really good. Just make sure to look up on YouTube a guide to get the game running. Make daddy Meandor proud.
Oldie but goldie.
Be a frog rider.
Dost dobrý, jedna z mých srdcovek. Bylo třeba stáhnout opravný patch protože si moc nerozumí s Windows 11.
Beste spel ooit!
Is a old classic. Is old, but is a good experience. very hard.
