As a mystery game this was okay. The QOL was horrible. There is no excuse for a text based game to have NO skip dialogue option. I played 24 hours, but I easily could have finished it in 10 had I just been able to hit the spacebar and skip my character slowly repeating information I've already learned multiple times. And there is no "sprint" button, there is a "walk infinitesimally less slow" button. And that button is NOT a toggle, so enjoy holding down an additional button while walking around for THE ENTIRE GAME. And why insist on including "adventure" mechanics? Royce's stealth missions, the horrible steering mini-game... just make a mystery I can read along and explore. There was an enjoyable game in here somewhere, it was just buried under so much slow and boring nonsense.
With a $40 price tag (bought on sale for $20), it's lacking a lot for what I would want from a title of that price Good story Decent graphics Interesting puzzles Visuals - as soon as you finish the first section, prologue if you will, you're hit with an attempt of a dramatic scene that made me laugh when realizing what the devs were aiming for - following up with the last point, the overall production value of the game is subpar. Voices don't match character, mouth visuals are half-done and even the setting of the chapters (now in chapter 6) are just lacking visually. I feel like I am playing something from the early Playstation days. - you see the same characters throughout the game ... not one of them changes clothes. Detective work - I saw where they were going with this; trying not to just give the player the next step. They make you search for everything to the point where if a detail is small, it's literally the smallest icon to click and won't appear until your cursor is ON IT. A bunch of times I questioned certain things in a scene and didn't get the icon to register until I was on a specific part of the clue. But there are some parts of the chapters that force you to walk around aimlessly, I guess in an attempt to explore the area so I can see it from that perspective. But if you're looking for a clear direction of where to go, you're going to have a hard time. - I've read some reviews complaining about irrelevant puzzles. I can see it. During one of the chapters I felt the puzzles were more blatant obstacles than contributing to the deduction of what was actually happening in the plot. If you're going to charge $40, at least give me some $40 game visuals. Sure, it's a detective game but I can name cheaper games that offer the same quality or better. Do not pay full price for this game. Previous AC games were far better and didn't even need the visuals.
Despite some negative comments which made me hesitate to buy this game, I actually really enjoyed it. I played it like a cozy game, walking around exploring and putting together a case. I think if you go in expecting hardcore detective work, you'll be let down. If you go in looking for a relaxing story, you'll like this. There are also quite a lot of puzzles which some might find tedious, but you can easily skip them by spamming for hints if you want to.
Very fun! Of course I had to use online walkthroughs to survive because...I'm stupid.
Bien cordialement
love it!! i love what this company is doing with the agatha christie games !! i am sooo excited to see what they adapt next !!!!!!!!! maybe hastings will come !!!!!!!!!
really good. I hope they make another one
