The game itself seems fine, but it changes the screen resolution to 320 x 240 and puts the game in window mode, and makes it somewhat awkward to play. Also quickly quitting the game seems slightly less intuitive than it should be. But the game itself does seem fun.
It plays in a tiny ~400x320 no matter what... And its just like, boring, controls weird, yeah, stay away. Unless the Dev actually does something to fix, mainly the horrible no-fullscreen issue.
I can play Cyberpunk 2077 on ultra settings with +200fps but can't go above 5 fps on this game... I really would like to try it but it's laggy af, how is that even possible that a Unity game (I suppose it was made on Unity), run at such a low frame rate ?
The screen is tiny and even the recommended f4 button just has the tiny screen in the middle of black. Jumping is awkward. Its not really for me, but there might be Platform enthusiast that may enjoy this.
A fun and enjoyable experience. It reminds of mega man mixed with metroid. The ammo and health is like megaman, enemies drop pelets of different colors for different types of ammo or health. The layout of the levels are mixed between linear and exploring for secrets. There are 6 or 7 levels in total and 4 or 5 bosses. A lot to do and explore! The controls were responsive, no delays in input, it is a hard game with the platforming being tight, but if you like a challenge instead of a walk in the park, this might be the challenge for you. A big downside of the game is the forced screen resolution of something strange, leaving it to be a small box sitting in the middle of your screen. If you can get past that, you will enjoy this game for the price.
Hey everyone and this is my review about the game! This is a Metroidvania Platform retro game.
Interface/Menu/Settings
Video Settings information.

You can only play this game in a small windowed screen.
There are no options.
Volume Settings Information.

There are no options.
Miscellaneous Information.

You can play this with a controller.

About the game.
You are using a small screen size in order to play the game and there is no way to change the resolution size. You can't play this on fullscreen at all and you are forced to play in a window screen. You are a playing as a monkey on an island, who is looking for items and a Mystery. You are able to find rayguns, power ups, keys and many other things. Ingame Information.

Repetitive music.
Boring.
Retro graphics.
You have a health bar and an ammo bar.
Miscellaneous Information.

Controls aren't smooth at times.
This game has been made in 2012... I'm pretty sure we weren't using a microwave as a computer screen back then.
Eyes could hurt after awhile as you are forced to focus on a small screen.

Other things.
If you are looking for a metroidvania game which is alot of fun and not plain boring all the timel. You should try "unepic". We live in the 2018s now and we are forced to play on a micro window? Hell no!! Discount or full price, the game isn't worth it. Or ofcourse Metroid it self. -------------------
Reviews are always uploaded if i have at least played for 2 hours or more. Unless the game is really garbage and doesn't deserve the 2H limit.
I Give this game a 1/10
Adventure Apes & The Mayan Mystery --------------------------------------------------------------- Adventure Apes & The Mayan Mystery is a retro side scrolling platform action adventure pixel game. Love the tag line of "Go Ape Bit". I actually had to do a bit of tinkering to get the game to work as everytime I launched it, it changed my resolution very low and made it unplayable. (But Since writing them, the developer fixed this within a few days, amazing customer service.) The music decent, has a nice jungle rhythm to it, I like it but it is just a short loop it seems. The monkey does seem to blink quite a bit often when standing still, but that's not really an issue lol. The water breathing scared me at first I thought I only had 3 seconds, the bubbles kind of made it confusing, but I quickly figure out it was the number above that mattered. As far as the control scheme I have an issue with it, first I never have been a fan of jump with the stick except in fighting games, I need a button for it, that alone could make the controls much better, The biggest problem is jumping on the platforms feels wierd because you are pressing up and aiming for the platform at the same time. All that being said, besides those issues, the game is fun, and is actually challenging, I like that it actually has a story to go along with it. The game does look cheap or old school in an 8 bit fashion with better colors, but never judge a game by its cover, some of the graphics like that of the monkey are really cute, this game is actually a nice gem of a platformer, lots of stuff to collect, and the gamplay itself is fun, but I could really go for an improvement by fixing the jumping to another mappable key besides up Pros: -Partial Controller Support -Steam Trading Cards -Steam Achievements -It's Cheap! ($2.99 USD) Cons: -No Multiplayer -Pressing Up to Jump
Its a good "metroid-like" game. It has some backtracking, but not enough to call it a "metroidvania". The lack of a map (in-game) to navigate, also counts to not call it like that too.
