Crim's Humble Opinion Curator
Walking In A Line Isn't Difficult Right?
This indie rpg plays with an interesting twist. You play Nyanco who has a bomb in her heart; this bomb restricts you from moving left or right; but you have to go because you obviously can't just stand there your whole life. The writing is pretty much in the meta humor department. That being said I won't say too much on what that entails.I will say that it did get me a few times and I had to think outside the conventional box once or twice to figure out what was going on. There are three different endings you can find in this short experience.
The Minor Gripes
The gripes I have about this game aren't entirely justified because I experienced them on a experimental beta branch which was required to get the achievements. In the beta branch I had sprites and menus that wouldn't appear correctly at times; but this was something that was forewarned when entering the beta branch. I played through the game again opting out of the achievement beta without any of the previous issues. I guess it's a con that the achievements can only be obtained in a buggier version of the game. This game depends on it's meta humor and unconventional play. Prepare to be confused, lost, and lose a fair amount. Luckily; you can save at any point which makes it easy to get past trickier bits.

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ pros ♥
+Unconventional Gameplay +Meta Humor
(っ>▬<)っ x cons x
-Achievement Hunters May Experience Bugs
It's a short different experience and I enjoyed the humor coupled with the game play ideas implemented. You may get less than an hour out of it; but it's flushed out just enough to enjoy it for it's strange quirks. Fed a cat and got it's poop as a gift. Obviously this game knows how the real world works. 𝕀𝕗 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝔼𝕟𝕛𝕠𝕪 𝕋𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕋𝕣𝕪 https://store.steampowered.com/app/230050/DLC_Quest/

死にゲーとしてなら良かったのだ。 バグ頻発、コントローラーの操作性が悪すぎです。クリアまでなんとか行けので気合と根性でがんばろう!!!
*cough* As much I wanted to parody Nyanco, because imitation is the best form of flattery, do not take this game lightly. While it is RPG Maker, she trolls with the mightiest of mighty. Her trolling knows no bounds and you will get a plenty "Game Overs" before you finally see the end. Think what you must if it is a short game (and it is about 2hrs roughly) but lo behold what may seem like a simple game is not as simple. As a masochist, I found this about as fun as playing Dark Souls with just the base sword. Challenging but fun. And as I told a friend while playing this game it's all "a** and trolling." Still fun never the less. Well worth the 1.59 (or 1.99) if you purchase it later. I feel though there can possibly be more to the story, I mean the humor was spot on so, I hope there is more to come.
"Don't be fooled by the cute sprites and the emojis! This game can put you through more Game Overs within the first few minutes than even Dark Souls could; P/S: Not that I've played Dark Souls before, but I've heard...... "traumatic" things..." Born from the forges of an RPGmaker, Nyanco is a cute yet challenging adventure RPG, designed specifically to appeal to fans of the curator Nyanco and also fans of RPGmaker games. The game puts you into the shoes of Nyanco herself who's enjoying a nice stroll on a beautiful sunny day, that is until a mysterious voice told her that she has a ticking time bomb in her heart and the only way to not end up as tiny fragments is to only walk/run forwards or backwards; basically, in a straight line. Frankly speaking, the story in this game is silly enough to be amusing (Note that some dialogue can be a tad bit suggestive though!) and the art and graphics are fantastic for a game of its kind. However, what's truly amazing about this game is how it takes a simple concept - moving along a straight line - and turn that into a challenge. I literally had to break down my own well-conditioned mental inhibitions that kept telling me I couldn't possibly make Nyanco run across a river or phase through walls... well, I was wrong :P
Watch me play!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI7hj9eo0bo
Pros
+ Unique gameplay. Simple yet innovative. + No hand-holding. Once you know the controls via the tutorial, you're expected to figure how to advance through the game yourself. Expect lots of Game Overs + trial and errors. + Fantastic graphics/sprites for an RPGmaker game. Love the art here as well! + Silly story with 3 different endings
Cons/Feedback
- I've always been a firm believer in the "$1 per hour of entertainment" minimum ratio, and this game seems to fall quite a bit short of that mark. Still, if you could get the game at a discount, you may find the game a bit more worthwhile in that respect. - Feedback: Since we had to go through the starting screen after every Game Over, maybe you could add a Skip Dialogue option? - Feedback: Maybe let the player choose the screen size/resolution they want via the options? Not a major issue or anything, but it's be a nice option to have (instead of having to manually resize the screen. - Feedback: Some of the tricks can be a bit too obscure, making playing the game without a guide quite difficult for the average player. Hint: The part where there's a System Message about the game being in early access is a trick. Initially, I thought the game froze (hence, I wasn't able to click on Continue game) so I Alt+F4 out of the game.
Tips for New Players
* I've noticed that you can enable Dash via the settings and this will definitely make getting through the first part of the challenge in the game a lot easier :)
Overall
Nyanco isn't exactly the sort of indie game I conventionally play, but I'd also have to admit - the game itself is not your typical RPGmaker game either. It's pretty amazing how it manages to take something so simple as running in a straight line and turn that into a challenge, and had an entire game designed around it. Of course, the game also has a nice adventure that features 3 different endings for you to play through, as well as lots of dialogues and incredulous moments that may just tickle your funny bone. I have only been playing this Game for few minutes and i can already say i love this. The Art style is funny and Cute. The Character Designs is adorable. Most of all This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard to beat!
I'm glad I could help when it came to double-checking the English translation! And thank YOU, Nyanco, for an enjoyable game! Which I shall now review here, because that's what this space is supposed to be for. This is a short but sweet RPG...uh, I mean...puzzle game? This game's not really about combat, after all (though the ability to access Nyanco's talents does come up); it's a series of small challenges where the goal is to keep going straight ahead without ever stepping to the side, no matter how much easier those routes seem to be. Along the way, there's a couple of comical moments that are worth a few giggles, such as
the poop
. While the experience may not be all that long (at least, assuming that you try everything and don't end up stuck on a trick for too long), it's also not all that expensive. All in all, I think this game is worth a try, even if you're not familiar with the videos on Nyanco Channel. This is the first Nyanco game, and I look forward to seeing how the next turns out!
Nyanco is life. Nyanco is god. Hail Nyanco.
