I always wanted to like phr00t's other games but just couldn't get into them for some reason phr00t has found their calling, this is awesome
+1 Really digging this so far. Great for anyone who enjoys design or rts. Custom faction design and sharing, procedural difficulty, challenging and rewarding on multiple levels. Seriously, this game is worth exploring. It is much better than it looks. Give it a few hours, ask for help if needed, but once you understand Adapt or Perish I promise you will be hooked.
Gives you access to the sliders devs use to balance rts games, probably unbalanced, but as fun as it sounds.
Very fun RTS with interesting mechanics you should give the game a try you will not regret it.
Meh, fun for an hour or two then its boring
As much as i would like to recommend this game its simply to different for me, the main problem i have with it is the AI that adapts to what i do some people may find it fun or challenging but i hate it, it ruins the great customization option making any strategy only viable until the AI counters it. the second problem for me that works in tandem with the first is the dynamic difficulty system i have seen on other review that i should not kill more enemies than i need and i find this stupid in a strategy game with no limits and where the only fun is drawn from big fights and the customization, its like asking me to not have to much fun if i want to fight an easy AI. now here's a list of minor problems/questions/things i would like to change: -what are the difference between fire/ice/plasma ? -the building system is disapointing, on multiple occasion it was said that the graphics and terrain where not meant to be beautiful but to help with performance and pathfinding and thats are valid reason and i can overlook that, but then why do you not make a building system similar to starcraft 2 with squares wouldn't it help with pathfinding and base building ? -i hate the fact that i cannot upgrade existing version of a unit or a building to the new edited version. -theres no real incentive to building flying units when the terrain is so flat and without real obstacles. -do flying units have any special abilities or customization option restricted to them ? if not why ? -will there ever be an AI customization option when creating a world like to add a cap to certain stat of their units or make them unable to create new units that disables leaderboard and all that ? ( i know that you can give it a faction to work with but i find this customization insufficient in a game where its main appeal is said customization ) -i know that a list that explains the special abilities effect has been made but could it not be added into the game and with it other description that can be seen when you move your mouse on top of things ( not that i have any problem with it ). -could multiple ai be added and fight against each other, to fit in the lore it could be that overseer don't test only one faction at a time. -could another ability section be added like "super abilities" that can be added on top of special abilities and requires a green ressource to be added that can only be collected via crates ? -could a special ability named "research center" be added on buildings making them able to research passive upgrade to ressouce extraction, unit cost and the like with greater cost depending on their usefulness. and another ability that boost a selected stat of units and buildings in an area around a unit or building that as this ability. -will the height of the terrain ever affect vision range/power of certain units/shot not connecting ? and thats all i could think of, im sorry if my feedback can feel rude im just frustrated that my liking of the game is ruined by the AI.
An intense strategy game where you push and are pushed back by an increasingly more powerful ai that knows how to fight back but also when to pull punches when you struggle.
An absolute early-access-quality game in all fronts: no edge panning; panning the screen with the keyboard happens at glacial speed; inverted mouse-wheel-to-zoom to what you'd expect from literally any other game; an interface that is so clunky, you can easily tell a dozen ways UIs from 640x480 DOS games are better designed; battlefield units and locations that are awful to parse visually... If you're looking for an RTS experiment, this might be for you at 50% off... maybe? Actual gamers looking for something to play, stay far away.
Functional Gameplay Customization (Unit Creation), Procedural Generation, and Auto-Adjusting difficulty. The Holy Trinity as realized in a RTS. What a fantastic genre to pick for this combination. Fast-paced action and deep organization are possible in this genre. Still just started, but I see such massive potential already. Started making my dream units right away and trying to make them work together. I think a lot of Starcraft and its unique unit abilities tbh, but I love how all the abilities and stats in this increase the cost and build time. You really have to balance it out.
if there was a middling button for recommendations, this game would get it. Fun at first but pretty one note gameplay after you've spent a few hours playing around with the unit customization.
